Epsom trainer Jim Boyle is attempting to do the three peaks, Ben nevis, Sca Fell, and Snowdon in 24 hours on Sunday to raise funds for Newmarket stable worker Vince Kelly.
When Jim went to Sir Michael Stoute’s as a 14 year old, Vince took him under his wings. Vince has had major surgery and a stroke, Jim wants to send Vince and his wife on a specialist holiday.
see jamesboyle.co.uk for details.
A word too for Richard Farmer (ex Akehurst, Mel Brittain, Con Collins etc.)who is doing the driving.August 1, 2011 at 09:39 #366769Jim completed Ben Nevis yesterday at 16.45 in 2 and a half hours.
Did Sca fell this morning, Richard Farmer is then driving them to Snowdon. A tight schedule hope the traffic’s clear on the M6.August 1, 2011 at 18:54 #366820Jim made it in 23 and a half hours.
Scafell he started out at 0400 in the pouring rain.
Got to snowdon at 13.30, back down, about 16.15;did the three inside the 24 hours . Superb effort. Hope he raised enough to give retired Stable Lad Vince Kelly the specialist holiday.
Thanks also to Richard Farmer who went 24 hours without a drink to drive them , and will be out with first lot tomorrow.August 4, 2011 at 10:19 #367086Amazed no one has commented on this sterling effort, although the way this Forum is at the moment perhaps I am not.
Jim Boyle is one of the good guys who always ensures his ex racers are rehomed & I have nothing but admiration for him & those of his ilk. I do hope Vince gets his holiday.
More positivity on this Forum would be most welcome. I rarely post these days, because some of the threads are really off putting (Frankie D, what’s that all about) & don’t deserve comment.August 5, 2011 at 14:15 #367244Jim has raised £2.5k with money still coming in.
Sore calf muscles for a few days, but no blisters.
Thanks to all who supported this. - AuthorPosts
