I’m just hoping that Sir Des Champs turns out to be the bully that forces him out of school(not that I condone that kind of thing lol!).
March 2, 2012 at 02:50 #394433People that think McCain is getting cold feet know nothing about racing.
Exactly how many times have we read about Peddler’s Cross getting cut in the betting since he was beaten by Sprinter Sacre? At least twice since the Game Spirit as well. Maguire said he wants to get Sprinter Sacre off the bridle at a preview night and McCain has always said the Arkle is plan A.
He’ll only run in the Jewson if the trainer feels he won’t do himself justice in the Arkle.

Zark, that’s a rather swingeing statement.
I have an opinion, just like you always seem to. To suggest I know nothing about racing is laughable simply because I think he’s getting cold feet. The price is drifting and his most recent statement was far less positive than other updates he’s made, therefore I’m concluding no smoke without fire a la Fingal Bay. But i may be wrong, just as i’m sure you have been in the past.
March 2, 2012 at 10:37 #394471Massive bottle job if Peddlers goes for this.
Won’t beat Sir Des Champs anyway. Hell, wouldn’t pass Solix.

The last sentence is key in that statement Zark.
It seems to me the Jewson is increasingly the favoured target. It’s an easy option. Peddlers Cross is now down to around 5/1 on betfair for the Jewson, 13/2 for the Arkle. Suspect Peddlers isn’t showing as much speed at home as he used to. If you look at the RUK interview with Donald, good adjectives used to describe what shape all his other runners were in, bar PC.
Value Is EverythingMarch 2, 2012 at 11:50 #394489I could almost see Peddlers missing the festival altogether to be honest. WIth talk of key gallops, setbacks and other targets there may be an altogether bigger problem.

At a preview I was at P.Mullins said Sir Des Champs will definitly run in the RSA.

The last sentence contradicts the previous ones.
" We want to take on SprinteR Sacre and test his resolve, see what he’s made of. However, if we dont think he’ll win we’ll go for the Jewson "
Makes no sense.
Jockey might want revenge, owner might want prize money and a trophy which would be more likely in the Jewson.

What does this mean? Im used to bizarre statements from race horse trainers but this is really odd.
Feels he won’t do himself justice is an odd phrase. It could mean if he isn’t fit enough/in rude health but then if that were the case, he wouldn’t run at the Festival at all. So why wouldn’t he be able to himself justice? It sort of implies that they don’t think he’s good enough to beat SS. That they really aren’t sure if he’s good enough to win this Arkle. Otherwise it is a very falicious remark.
I really couldn’t even consider backing Peddler’s Cross now. The vibes aren’t good. If you’re questioning the path to take this close then clearly confidence cannot be that high.
Either connections are really doubting if he’s good enough to win this Arkle, or they made one of the most falicious and ridiculous statements you’re ever likely to read.
I think McCain is a very good trainer, but i wouldn’t listen to a word he says.
March 2, 2012 at 16:00 #394523Looks like Sir Des Champs is RSA bound.
A real head in hands moment for me.

Thought did go through my mind Blunkett, very possible. However, I made sure I got NRNB with VC’s 9/2 for the Jewson yesterday. Won’t help my 7/1 for the Arkle though.

Noooooo!
Note to self for future reference, don’t back Willie Mullins horses AP for the festival!…you never have a clue which race they’re going for. Boston Bob, Sir Des Champs. Just to add to the potential of Peddlers not turning up in the Arkle.
March 2, 2012 at 17:25 #394540I know the owners of Fiveforthree and they backed the horse for the Supreme the week before the race, as Willie has said he was siding towards that race. Ended up winning the Neptune, but that will tell you about Willie. He is a law unto himself with the majority of his owners. In fairness most owners leave it up to the master, but surely a bit of accurate info a few weeks before the meeting is called for. It’s the least you would expect.
All was forgiven obviously.

I guess he wont be sending Quevega on a last minute u-turn for the world hurdle !

Me too. After Fingal Bay, Quito De La Roque, Grandouet, Minsk this could be another stinger
March 3, 2012 at 09:23 #394621The betting IMO says that First Lieutenant & SDC both going for the RSA.
March 3, 2012 at 09:58 #394633Car crash of a decision in my opinion sdc is young and never tried the 3 mile in public.
Still think the owners and davy russell will want one in each. I would if I was them.
