The longest name for a race I think it’s possible to have:
‘Ladies Qualified Riders Association Fegentri World Championship Race For Lady Riders Handicap (50-75)’
It’s a good job it’s over a mile & a half and not 5f because it would be over by the time they’d read it out if it was!
Wonder what it’s worth at Scrabble.
August 8, 2010 at 19:23 #311752They actually held a German leg of the Fegentri World Series at Mannheim earlier this year, and the name of that race was:
‘Preis der SfC GmbH und des Tribuenentischs Nr. 7 Ausgleich IV Amateurrennen fuer Rennreiter Fegentri-Rennen’
Luckily, that was also over a mile and a half!!
August 8, 2010 at 19:41 #311755Is Fegentri the sponsor?
Also, not really a racing question but what does GmbH mean? I’ve seen it quite alot.

Fegentri is the international federation of gentlemen riders and sanctions races all over the world including jumping meetings in the United States. I dont’t know much else about it.

As, usual, a correct answer from The Man from Langholm!!
The only thing I would add is that it holds a World Series for both Gentlemen and Lady amateurs.I’m actually a bit involved in Fegentri myself, as I’m occasionally called into service as one of their tranlslators, a task I’ve done at Mannheim and Baden-Baden. The Fegentri race today was at The Curragh, but the series does literally go all over the world, and encompasses all kinds of racing. Indeed, no lesser horse than Fiepes Shuffle ran in a Fegentri Lake Race in Bad Harzburg, Germany a few years ago when ridden by English amateur Danny Cook.
Fegentri have their own website at http://www.fegentri.com where you can find out more about the organisation.
As for GmbH, thats basically the German for ‘Ltd’ or Limited. You’ll usually see it after a company name.
August 10, 2010 at 10:16 #311995Some may not know but Ltd is short for Limited and means a Limited Liability Company which protects those with shares in the company from losing anything except the shares if the company goes bust.
