I REALLY HOPE ITV CHANGE EVERYBODY. BECAUSE I CANT THINK OF ANYBODY ON CHANNAL 4 RACING I FIND INTERESTING AT ALL. THEY ALL TALK A LOAD OF CRAP. I TRY TO SIT AND WATCH THE HOUR. BUT LAST 10 MINUTES AT MOST.
EMMA SPENCER COULDN’T INTRODUCE CRACKERJACK LET ALONE A RACING PROGRAMME. THE WHOLE SHOW IS SO BORING. I JUST HOPE ITV SERIOUSLY THINK ABOUT WHAT THEY PUTTING ON. OTHERWISE BE JUST ANOTHER BORING RACING PROGRAME
MOSTLY I WATCH RACING UK. AS I HEAR A LOT MORE OF WGAT I WANT TO LISTEN TO

Considering most of the Channel 4 racing team are racing UK presenters how is it any different?
November 9, 2016 at 19:56 #1271641I hear Nick Luck is going to stay on Channel 4 and take over as host of Great British Bake Off
Surely it’ll be renamed The Great British Nod Off if he’s presenting it?
November 11, 2016 at 20:48 #1272040itv just announced AP McCoy joining itv

November 11, 2016 at 21:10 #1272042Yeah nice to see them promoting it during/before the England game to the sport crowd, that and the advert itself made me think they’re going to take this seriously. Actually made me rather excited for it all.
November 11, 2016 at 21:15 #1272043Surely there must be a jock out there is more entertaining to listen to than McCoy?
What are we going to get? JP is a great bloke, great for the game blah blah blah. Jonjo is Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
It would be nice to see someone actually rattle a few cages.
November 11, 2016 at 21:26 #1272047While I agree Stilv, they know AP will attract the viewers. Is Rishi getting a role? I like Rishi.
November 12, 2016 at 06:43 #1272120McCoy’s appointment is symptomatic of how ITV have approached this …McCoy is statistically the greatest jump jockey in history BUT he is a terrible broadcaster with nothing to say….he looks irritated and as if he doesn’t want to be there ‘that’s for sure’.
ITV have been deeply unimaginative with their bookings and they have compounded this with a dash of change for changes sake with the needless replacement of Simon Holt with the wordy, preppy and humourless Richard Hoiles.Silly.
Whilst on the subject Sam Twiston Davies is bloody awful as well ..he’s like a thunderbird puppet …his mouth opens but absolutely nothing worth listening to comes out .Bland,bland,bland.

Amazing how many people like the bland, dull lifeless voice and thoughts of Simon Holt, just amazes me that people find his commentary even remotely interesting.

Lifeless!?! You obviously have your commentators mixed up. Holt will be a huge miss on the big occasions.

Nope his commentary today was appalling especially during the race where the loose horse wandered in front of the fence, dull, monotone, boring. good riddances. Pity we still have him doing Lingfield and Plumpton and the others.
November 13, 2016 at 09:00 #1272396ITV were on a dummy run yesterday at Cheltenham, they made a cringeworthy attempt of changing the winners’ presentation process with a ramp from the front up to the usual platform and replaced Charlie Parkin with John McDoanld (who apparently is the caller for Darts & Boxing ?) calling the connections up. Highly embarrassing.

This seems a significant indication of what their approach will be, it does not bode well. Sounds like there will be plenty of shouting, of course from Chapman and I’m sure Richard Hoiles will feel obliged to shout a lot, if not I’m sure he will be told to.
Looking at that long list of “presenters & pundits” and what a mixed bunch they are, not sure there will be much time for the real stars of the show.
November 13, 2016 at 10:32 #1272405RP article on it here.
So I make that 18 people as the team. Yes, I know they won’t all be there at the same time but 18! How many people do you need to present racing for heaven’s sake! And weather reports. Really? Totally unnecessary. Will be too many talking heads with not enough coverage of horses before each race as per C4, interviews with people we could care less about, etc. Has no one actually looked at eh Beeb’s coverage to see what made it so successful? Obviously not.
November 14, 2016 at 20:56 #1272686I can’t bear listening to McCoy
He sounds like your accountant telling you your tax bill is huge with a heavy cold on a wet cold January Monday morning

McCoy is an employee of William Hills and they sponsor the coverage. It was inevitable.
December 2, 2016 at 21:03 #1275357Channel 4 have confirmed their last coverage will be Welsh Grand National Day. So the meeting at Newbury on New Year’s Eve won’t be shown on terrestrial TV.
