It’s like herding cats.
April 23, 2022 at 18:58 #1595426Worth noting the claim that the conservatives are “institutionally racist”. A definition set by the EHRC which has officially found two parties guilty of just this
The BNP and Labour
April 23, 2022 at 20:19 #1595443I guess Smethwick didn’t happen either….
April 23, 2022 at 20:37 #1595445Oh you mean the election from 58 years ago
Yes that’s really relevant ffs
April 23, 2022 at 21:29 #1595448Anti-Muslim sentiment “remains a problem” within the Conservative Party, an independent report has found.
‘Professor Swaran Singh, a former equality and human rights commissioner, analysed 1,418 complaints relating to 727 separate incidents as recorded in the Tories’ complaints database between 2015 and 2020.
In a 44,000-word report on his findings, he said: “Judging by the extent of complaints and findings of misconduct by the party itself that relate to anti-Muslim words and conduct, anti-Muslim sentiment remains a problem within the party.
“This is damaging to the party, and alienates a significant section of society.”
May 6, 2022 at 22:11 #1597137Starmer to resign.
Value Is EverythingMay 6, 2022 at 22:21 #1597138Before the police found Johnson had broken the rules… Starmer called for Johnson to resign.
Sunak went to the party only by mistake… Starmer called for Sunak to resign.
For birthday cake read take away and beer.
Starmer therefore has to resign.
Value Is EverythingMay 6, 2022 at 22:28 #1597140Utterly inept, simplistic analysis (yet again) from “The Right”.
There was an upcoming by-election in Hartlepool. Starmer was up there campaigning. They had lunch in the office, as pubs and restaurants were closed.
Completely different from organised post-work parties at Downing Street, I’m afraid.
May 6, 2022 at 22:34 #1597142Also many restrictions had been lifted by then I believe.
May 6, 2022 at 23:01 #1597151‘Starmer therefore has to resign.’
Has a precedent been set?
May 6, 2022 at 23:33 #1597159“Utterly inept, simplistic analysis (yet again) from “The Right”.
——————-
It’s not my or “the right”‘s “simplistic analysis”, Glad’.
It’s not me or the right that thinks Starmer should resign.
Point is it is Starmer who thinks Starmer should resign.
Starmer called for both Johnson and Sunak to resign for doing what Starmer himself has done.If Starmer does not resign he will be seen as a hypocrite.
Value Is EverythingMay 6, 2022 at 23:52 #1597161‘If Starmer does not resign he will be seen as a hypocrite.’
As will Tories who call for him to resign.
Not that he’s been found to have done anything wrong of course. However the Tories and their press pals have decided that they didn’t like the result last time the Police looked at this so they want another go.
May 7, 2022 at 00:03 #1597162So it’s ok for Labour to call for the police to investigate “Partygate”, but not for the police to investigate “Beergate” when new evidence comes to light.
Labour has already lied about Raynor not being there.
What else have they lied about?Value Is EverythingMay 7, 2022 at 00:27 #1597163Doubt many Conservatives that have not called for Boris to resign will call for Kier to resign, Richard.
They know it will be very difficult for Boris to remain leader if Starmer resigns.Problem Labour and Starmer himself have is they called for both Boris and Sunak to go and therefore must themselves be judged the same way.
As I understand it:
If the takeaway and beer were ate / drunk mid meeting then Starmer is in the clear.
If the takeaway and beer were ate / drunk after their work had finished it was against the rules.Value Is EverythingMay 7, 2022 at 05:12 #1597200“Starmer called for both Johnson and Sunak to resign for doing what Starmer himself has done.”
But what Starmer did was different. He was on his lunch break at work- no rules were broken.
Johnson and Sunak attended organised parties after work- rules were broken.
Now, if these latest stories about 20-30 people turning up in Durham out of nowhere are true then that’s a completely different matter, although if those people were working on the electoral campaign then, again, no rules were broken.
May 7, 2022 at 08:13 #1597207Labour went o and on about lies and cover ups and the. What do they do?
They’ve made themselves look ridiculous
May 7, 2022 at 09:09 #1597221‘They know it will be very difficult for Boris to remain leader if Starmer resigns.’
Starmer would do well to say now that he’ll resign if found to have broken the rules. If he has done something wrong he looks vaguely honourable, at least next to all the Tories who are still in post. If he hasn’t done anything wrong then the calls for Johnson et al to go can only get louder.
‘Labour went o and on about lies and cover ups and the. What do they do?
They’ve made themselves look ridiculous’
Hypocrisy all over the place from both parties really. A few weeks ago the Tories were describing the Partygate stuff as ‘fluff’ and that we should be foucusing on the real issues. Changed their tune now they need to distract from the complete shoeing they’ve had at the ballot box.
