Question more about interferance rather than the King George.
In the final half furlong.
Papal Bull got a head up on the Duke.Had Peslier not changed his whip hand and "accidentally" interfered with Duke Of Marmalade (in the same manner as he did with Youmzain). Papal Bull going on to win by a length.
WOULD THE STEWARDS HAVE CHANGED THE RESULT?
After all, with The Duke being available at 30 something /1 on Betfair, he was not a "probable" winner.
With accidental interferance, the result will not be changed unless the stewards believe the second had a good chance of winning.
In my opinion stewards too often give the benefit of doubt to the perpetrator and not the victim.
Had interferance taken place in the King George we would’ve seen a different winner.

Value Is EverythingJuly 27, 2008 at 14:26 #175023He certainly looked beat Ginge which just goes to show. Had the Duke met with accidental interference 1/2 a furlong from home most likely the would have let Stouts keep the race.
What a bummer!!! they would have been wrong as we saw.
July 30, 2008 at 12:36 #175319Can’t see the point of the point you’re trying to make. On that basis you could have disqualified Gulf Express yesterday despite it probably still winning and give the race to Pinpoint which would be ludicrous.
Barring them having a crystal ball or psychic powers I think the stewards do a pretty good job although I would still prefer a central panel once a week deciding stewards enquiries and the result stand on the day unless dangerous riding is involved.
What I do know is there would be a lot more unfair results under your system compared to the current one. - AuthorPosts
