It’s noticeable with the reduction of fixtures how badly the girls are doing. Hayley Turner has all but disapppeared following her injuries just a couple of rides now and again in far flung places and only just off the cold list. Not helped by a string of suspensions and although getting some rides for Fanshawe and Tregonning not sitting on many of the winners. Cathy Gannon also gone is she injured? Amy Ryan dogged by bad injuries out of the picture again and Kisty Milczarek disappeared from sight. Anyone know what’s happened to her?

Back in Feb Kirsty took part in our West Berkshire Racing Club Quiz at Oaksey House Lambourn, I believe she was a regular there, recieving treatment. Is she still out injured?
You’d expect Hayley to struggle for a bit after coming back from injury and losing the "job" at her main yard Michael Bell’s. Hope she finds the next rung on the ladder soon.
It’s true, the ladies haven’t had much to get exited about recently.
Value Is EverythingMay 19, 2014 at 15:43 #479563Cathy Gannon is also missing due to injury, in her case a shoulder problem and the last info she supplied was that she would miss the first half of the season.
Kirsty Milczarek suffered a serious spinal injury in the stalls at Brighton last autumn and has had surgery. As Ginge says, she was at Oaksey House for therapy, but at present seems no nearer to resuming riding.
Can’t say I’ve noticed this fixture reduction you mention Kent!
May 19, 2014 at 16:20 #479564Hayley’s rush of blood to the head on Bronze Angel at the weekend won’t have done her cause any favours, either.
May 19, 2014 at 23:16 #479605Hi Alan
There just seems very little Flat turf racing considering we are mid way through May. On a number of days the jumps have outnumbered the flat The turf season seems to refuse to get going and a huge amount of the form is still from the dreaded AW a situation which will get even worse with additional tracks coming on stream. Frankly the whole situation is so poor that I have virtually given up betting as I’m rapidly losing interest after 60 years. Only today ( and most other days) I bitterly regretted the cost of a Racing Post to find yet again no likelihood of a betting proposition.
Ex Smartie from way back in your pastMay 20, 2014 at 09:19 #479616Kent,
No argument from me on the case that most days the racing is just plain dull. But it’s easy to see why the turf tracks, who can only stage so many meetings per annum before the racing surface is destroyed, would rather wait for midsummer.
Here are the official crowd figures for three turf meetings held in the week beginning May 5th – Brighton 755, Carlisle 803, Nottingham 830.
Not much financial future for tracks on those numbers.
