Aidan has gone to the Eclipse without bringing any ammunition on the basis of good will that Confront is the likely front runner? who would doubt him, you’re every day punter will expect Confront to make the running but this is a horse whose in the company of your arch rival.
If you want to take everything Aidan O’Brien has and leave him in **** street then drop Confront out the back and let Workforce make the running and try steal it from the front? whats So You Think going to do? go to the front, I doubt it. Ryan will know if this horse hates leading alright.
Lets be honest I can’t see Workforce coming of a strong run 10f better than So You Think.
Sir Michael Stoute HAS! to make the running with Workforce.
Thinking outside the box, but there you go.
July 2, 2011 at 08:06 #363159Is he vulnerable? In a word, no.They can ride him where they want to,he settles nicely when not too fresh and the POW run will have settled him a bit.

It’s laughable that anyone should think Confront is in the race for a look around. The horse is a natural miler, whose only previous race over this trip was in exactly the same role he performs today.
Connections are aware that Workforce is probably better at 12f, needs a strong pace at this trip (and SYT doesn’t), have booked one of the best in the business to ensure it, and AOB probably realised some time ago that no matter how many pacemakers/spoilers he ran, SMS is firmly in the driving seat for this one.
Fwiw, I believe Confront will lead till about 3 down, where Workforce will take it up to ensure a thorough test, SYT will stalk him too try and do him in the last furlong, but will probably find the tank empty.
Potentially one of the best races I’ve ever seen, in a lifetime’s fascination with the sport.July 2, 2011 at 09:28 #363167lol if confront doesn’t set the pace it would be 1 of the dumbest things ever, naturally SYT would win then. I hope/think he’ll get over the line anyway, but it’ll be very close.
July 2, 2011 at 09:34 #363168For what it’s worth i think just after 3:12 pm So You think will be close to a 9/4 favourite for the ARC.
July 2, 2011 at 13:23 #363202that is the forecast, SYT and SF
July 2, 2011 at 14:37 #363231Listen big mouth Mr Wilson,as Matt Damon said in ‘Good Will Hunting’….. ‘Do you like apples? ‘Well how do you like them apples’? that goes for the rest of the mugs who said SYT didnt have the stamina and Australian racing was inferior! Heres a towel wipe the egg off your face!
July 2, 2011 at 16:13 #363276Mr Wilson is not the most detested man on this site for nothing , so c’mon sir more diatribe please , we really need your wonderful informed views (like a tooth pain )
Enjoy the humiliation sir , you well deserve it

July 2, 2011 at 17:07 #363292I thought that it was an fascinating race today and hats off to them both.
Using a line through the 3rd I will be intrigued to see if this performance is actually any better than his defeat at Royal Ascot.
Whether SYT is vulnerable come Arc time, I think that he possibly is. Twelve furlongs rather than 10, probably softer ground, being ridden the same way as Pour Moi, and the likelihood that the Stoute stable will be firing by then.
Getting excited alreadyJuly 2, 2011 at 21:26 #363325So You Think has no more to prove. He beat the Derby and Ark winner over a mile and two.(Stoute needed the win just as Aidan did over that distance.) Mission accomplished. What guess his stud fee now? Two Group One victories in Europe to add to his tally.
July 2, 2011 at 22:09 #363328Workforce was very game in defeat,he has certainly come back well,an article said SYT made him look ordinary! What a stupid comment! Think it may have been the Guardian.
July 3, 2011 at 18:24 #363463Workforce had every chance ,the right pace, the right jockey the right trainer, the right race and he was very game in defeat but the winner towered over him like some giant colossus in the final furlong.Remember Stoute refused to take him on at the Curragh, and rightly so, he wanted everything in his favor when taking him on.Every good gambler wants to have an edge.If ever SYT was vulnerable it was today.
