Poor Epsom Derby , form is in tatters

Improving 3 yr old colt won Irish derby fair and square , hard to see any of the Epsom mob beating him at any time soon

Joseph does give his horses a lot to do , but I dont honestly think it made any difference last night

    Best horse won

    IMO

    Ricky

How is the "Poor Epsom Derby form in tatters Ricky? :?

Trading Leather beat Galileo Rock 1 3/4 lengths, With Derby also-ran Festive Cheer another 1 3/4 away.

At Epsom Galileo Rock was beaten a short head by Libertarian with a further 1 1/2 lengths to Ruler Of The World.

Seems to me the two Derby winners deserve to be rated the same.
    Festive Cheer improved greatly.
With both Ruler Of The World and Libertarian running well below form. It’s interesting neither had run on ground as firm and former sweated up beforehand.
On the other hand, Trading Leather has a daisy-cutting, top-of-the-ground action usually at its best on a firm surface.

To use the old cliche "horses are not machines", sometimes they don’t run to their best Ricky.

Someone suggested that Aidan and Joseph was the same as Vincent and Liam. Big difference.Liam was not first jockey at Ballydoyle for the same reason as Joseph is.

"In contrast, a drop back to 10 furlongs looks likely for Ruler of the World with jockey Joseph O’Brien indicating the odds-on favorite didn’t stay" Irish Times.
Interesting since Moore indicated he had no problem getting the mile and a half at Epsom.

They, camp O’Brien had previously said his runs at Chester/Epsom were too close to this one and said horse should of had a break add to mix the position of the horse which imo was too far back for a stayer  , did Joey think they had a pacemaker in the field or that Ruler of the World was ‘the best horse Aiden has ever trained’ and was going to sprout wings in the straight and take off like Usain Bolt.

A better question would be how much of an influence does Joe have on riding tactics? and how much of an influence does Magner and co have on future targets?

I read a couple of years ago that Aidan complained that David Wachman was getting the good horses and threatened to quit. Magnier defended giving David the horses on the grounds that he was his son in law.So Aidan said you take care of your family and I will take care of mine.Since then the wheels came off the Coolmore operation.Murtagh was squeezed out and Joseph was the new golden boy.All other jockeys get the silent treatment.(sometimes Aidan will acknowledge Moore when he rides horses that Joseph cannot ride.)Heffernan or O’Donoghue are no longer praised for their contribution in the saddle. When Joseph rides a fancied horse in the classics the way is usually cleared lest some other from the yard beats him. His inability to judge pace is painfully obvious. When up against top jockeys as in the King George he is lost.Suddenly Aidan is blaming himself for Joseph’s failures.Sad.

Not sure why you have such dislike for the O’Brien camp, but it is getting a little boring now. Fine your entitled to your opinion free speech and all but I’m not sure where you get your facts from.

Over the last 5/8 yrs I can only a few genuine group 1 horses that Wachman has trained for coolmore and they were Damson/Again.

The idea that O’Brien would of complained to Maginer and co is laughable. Ballydoyle is the heart of coolmore all their best horses go there fact. I think what’s more laughable is what Maginer was reported to have said,if Maginer put family first then one of his sons would be running Ballydoyle or even Wachman but there not because is business and in business you have the best and that what Aiden is,17 years later he’s still the boss at Ballydoyle.

The other 2 jocks at Ballydoyle accept what there positions are I don’t hear them complaining,So please give it a rest.

The more I watch Joseph taking the place of Johnny Murtagh, the leading jockey at Ascot, the more I dislike nepotism.Incidentally I did not mean to imply that John Magnier decided that anyone was as good as Aidan just that he felt that giving his daughter’s husband a few horses to train was his prerogative.Simple as that.

A furious pace from start to finish would help him.
