John Gosden said Jack Hobbs will now have a break and then contest the Prix Niel before running in the Arc De Triomphe. It could be a good renewal if the leading contenders all show up. I would much rather take Jack Hobbs for the Arc than New Bay, who also trades at 10/1. 10/1 looks an each-way lock for the improving Gosden colt at Longchamp.

We agree again Steve. Although don’t think Jack is up to the Arc yet, he’s such a rangy individual and should keep on improving this season (and next). New Bay has improvement in him too, but not sure it will be at 1m4f. I’ve done win only because don’t like investing double stake with just 1/4 odds first three – when losing the lot if a non-runner. I’ll have a saver or two and/or main bets on others nearer the day.

Golden Horn will probably stay at 1m2f, although that could change if beaten by either New Bay or (more likely) Time Test.

Thanks for drawing my attention to the price. :good:

I looked around 8:00pm last night, 6/1 was best price I could find. Suppose they must have gone to Press with “morning prices” by then and so pushed it out for a few minutes this morning.

Maybe it would have been a case of 8/1 showing as available but had you been on the blower to them you would have only got 6/1.

William Haggas has said that Storm The Stars will run in the Great Voltigeur and then they will have a think about the St Leger.

You would think it was the end of the world having to run in the Leger, rather than an opportunity to put a Classic on a horse’s CV. Roger Varian hummed and hawed about taking Kingston Hill there last year before seeing sense and he probably wishes he had something remotely good enough to head there this year in what has been a pretty feeble season for him.

William Haggas will surely reason that Storm The Stars can’t cope with Jack Hobbs and Treve, nor can he drop him back in trip to take on Golden Horn, The Grey Gatbsy (when on form) or lock horns with Free Eagle and Gleneagles perhaps.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
