Looking at the Irish Derby, 68 horses, 34 entries by A P O’Brien. P Power showing High Definition EV Fav.
Hurricane Lane 7/2 Mojo Star and Mac Swiney 6/1, bringing the Derby form.
The Curragh galloping track with 3 furlongs run-in slightly uphill, according to Timeform, should suit the Fav. Does the fact he’s clear fav ahead of Derby field tell us derby form iffy?.

What price do they have for the Derby winner? As far as I can see he is one of the 68 entered, though I don’t think Mojo Star is.

High Definition was well supported for the Derby before being withdrawn so don’t think it’s surprising he’s popular here, especially given his connections.

S Stars, I’ve seen since writing a post-Mojo may not run, FF interesting if Adayar goes for King George, along with the eclipse usually gives us a good idea regarding 3-year-olds against elders. :good:

If Lone Eagle was given an easy lead id think he will take some pegging back on a track that suits front runners

Only problem is there will surely be a couple of obrein horses sacrificed to set it up for high definition to fly late

I like Wordsworth and have backed him each way. Looking at the top 3 places in this race from the past 10 or 15 years you need a) an AOB horse b) that stays, not necessarily an ultra classy superstar.

This horse is a stuffy looking sort who might have taken a few runs to get fully fit.

Has won every other race he has run in.
He is due a massive run today.
High definition cost his supporters millions when the favourite didnt turn up for Epsom. It may be that he simply wasnt good enough. They will go back to the well again and try and recoup their losses on a very short priced horse. The ratings put Jim Bolgers horse clear at 118. Another stable and he’d be 120.
That is shown up markedly by ratings given to over rated over hyped horses who have badly flopped in the big races this year.
Most of his wins have been on soft/ heavy but that is circumstantial. His maiden win was on good ground, when he beat Bolshoi Ballet.
    losewinlosewinlosewinlosewinlose… sequence says win…..
HD really should win today with everything in his favour but Mac Swiney has a massive chance here and 8/1 maybe bigger represents decent each way value perhaps in a double e/w with the french newcomer Marbling for Ger Lyons who I note Colin Keane has got off one to ride.

I’ve done a rain dance so no problem!
They ( may) have given the ground plenty of water so may be better than expected. Certainly watering was mooted during the week.

    Taken 9/4 against High Definition.

Wordsworth has run his best races here and was only just behind High Definition when he won his maiden. I could see him hitting the frame but he needs to leave the Ascot run behind.

Not a race I’ll get involved in betting wise, but Hurricane Lane ran a decent race at Epsom having beaten High Definition previously and looks solid enough at 5/1.

Can make a case for plenty of these
Meade made it clear enough he sees Lone Eagle’s end game the Leger so have backed him for that in the hope he can run well enough today to cement his position in the market.
