Latest forecast suggests Leopardstown will ride genuinely good on Saturday.
Is it simply a question of Economics 11/10?
Can Augusts Rodin carve his way to 5/2 victory?
Will the City of Angels soar to success at 5/1
Or just possibly a dark horse?
September 12, 2024 at 08:39 #1706808Looking forward to Economics in Group 1 company at last so will be an interesting watch.
The things I want most in life are the things that I can't win.
September 13, 2024 at 20:25 #1706908Economics is 6-1 for the Irish Champion/Ascot Champion Stakes double so taken some of that rather than the short price tomorrow coz my thinking is if he wins tomorrow he should win at Ascot.
September 13, 2024 at 20:49 #1706910The right way to go mike
September 14, 2024 at 11:39 #1707460Warm windy and sunny so we may be heading to the fast side of good certainly by big race time 3.25
Watch out for the race time in the 1.10.September 14, 2024 at 15:28 #1707516what a great race well done backers, thats why we love this sport
September 14, 2024 at 15:29 #1707517Don’t care a bit about the first two home, but what a huge run from the Japanese raider. With more experience on both sides there is only one winner.
Still well done to the first two of course…..
September 14, 2024 at 15:29 #1707518Brave winner but Shin Emperor should have won that, his jockey got totally out maneuvered and boxed in at a vital stage. He will be a player in the Arc
September 14, 2024 at 15:32 #1707519Los Angeles ran like a horse that needs to go further. If only there had been a suitable race today…
September 14, 2024 at 15:34 #1707520Not sure Shin Emporer was unlucky. He only switched once he got outpaced then ran on a bit when switching looks like he needed 12f. Same as Los Angeles. Economics was wide the whole way and still held them all off.
September 14, 2024 at 15:34 #1707521“He will be a player in the Arc”
Agree, but only with a jockey who knows the track well.
September 14, 2024 at 15:39 #1707523“He will be a player in the Arc”
Not when the inevitable rain comes ;o)
September 14, 2024 at 15:47 #1707527Mike – when Economics moved up past him down the back he shut him in for the rest of the way round until well into the home straight, that meant he had to wait and then AR came past and he didn’t get out with enough time to really get rolling.
Ruby – Agreed, but I am not sure they will change jockeys, today was the 3rd straight race Ryusei Sakai has ridden him so I doubt they will change now and even if they did you would have to wonder just who would be a big enough name that is available for them to switch to. To me Longchamp is not quite as tricky a course to ride first time as Leopardstown is.
September 14, 2024 at 16:02 #1707533To date he has never run on anything other than good to firm so we simply don’t know how he would cope if it came up Longchamp soft or heavy.
But with that being said, he is by Siyouni who’s progeny do go on softer ground but more importantly, he is a full brother to the 2020 Arc winner Sottsass which was a race run on officially heavy ground (he was also placed in another Arc on very soft ground and won two races on soft).
Could he be the atypical Japanese horse that will actually act on soft ground?
September 14, 2024 at 16:03 #1707534Agree with that, LD. Longchamp should be easier to handle and the trip could suit better.
As Mike pointed out, the rain arrives quite often on an October Sunday at Longchamp, but if he’s still double digits for the Arc, that would be okay for a small bet.September 14, 2024 at 16:06 #1707535Back to the winner – fair play to Haggas for sticking to his guns and going the softly softly route with him through the summer and side stepping the Derby and also to the owners for going along with the plan.
September 14, 2024 at 16:18 #1707536True, he was very well campaigned. I’m quite sure he’ll stay in training for one more season and might only run in the British Champion Stakes this year.
Even though he’s entered for the Arc, Haggas won’t send his there as a three year old unraced over 1m4f.
