Brilliant horse and a great ride from Keane.
Shoemark deservedly booted off.
May 24, 2025 at 15:49 #1731181Well done Nathan 👍
May 24, 2025 at 15:54 #1731183Group 1 horse ridden by a Group 1 jockey.
May 24, 2025 at 15:54 #1731184Brilliant horse, brilliant performance and a certainty for the Juddmonte International.
May 24, 2025 at 16:11 #1731185Ruby – I wouldn’t be so sure as all his relatives were milers and so was his dam and Kingman’s biggest perccentage of winning offspring is at 7F-9F trip (56% wins to runners).
I think a strongly run mile would be his optimum trip, that being said it might well depend on what level the 10F horses are at come York – he does actually have an Eclipse entry so they may be looking at that route at some point and it would give them options as I am not sure a horse with his big stride would be suited to a tight turning Breeders Cup mile.
May 24, 2025 at 16:17 #1731187Interviewed after the race on RTV, John Gosden suggested that the plan is one more race over a mile, in the St James’s Palace Stakes, and then stepping up to a mile and a quarter, possibly in the Eclipse.
May 24, 2025 at 16:20 #1731188I’m speculating a bit about the Juddmonte International as it has been over 12 years since the Sponsors won it the last time.
May 24, 2025 at 16:40 #1731189Might well depend on how he gets on in the Eclipse – a lot of the mile races like the Marois, Sussex, Moulin and QE2 look there for the taking especially if Ruling Court is going up to 12F.
Although considering if he does go to Ascot next and then onto Sandown after that, that will be his 5th race of the season and I would imagine a break would be needed so York might not fit into that kind of schedule although the Moulin is in September so…..
I wonder whether they might keep FOG in training next season as well as another year on his back would make him a stronger prospect and then they could look to go fully 10F with him.
May 24, 2025 at 18:12 #1731195well played Nathan

wow that was impressive, just waiting in people in coming days weeks to tell us it was a shyte 2000.
Best three year old miler out there (but have been wrong many times in my 50 odd years watching racing)
May 24, 2025 at 18:42 #1731197Well deserved win, he had them all in his sights and Colin Keane cool as a cucumber, great ride, great horse.
Well done Nathan
JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...May 24, 2025 at 18:57 #1731200Minimum of fuss as the ratings would have suggested. I don’t think Shoemark would have messed up on him today but of course the damage had been done.
May 24, 2025 at 19:34 #1731201Wouldn’t it be an easier course to ride and they also provided a pacemaker which they should have done at Newmarket?

I reckon he could have found a way.

Juddmonte clearly don’t want him anywhere near their horses in Group 1s. And with two wins in prestigious Group 1s in the last 8 days without him, who can say they are wrong?

We’ll see how he copes with Henri Matisse’s bullet turn of foot over the distance next time. Hope the rain stays away so we can see it.
May 25, 2025 at 03:46 #1731218Iam eating humble pie , FOG does look v good on that . Owners have cracking bunch of 3 yo milers .
Cosmic Year was gpod too . Trick will be keeping them all apart ,but if FOG goes 10 furlongs after Royal Ascot that will help them. - AuthorPosts
