Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
May 21, 2012 at 22:46 #405103For a change this year could be between Washman,Oxx and Weld. But I believe Bolger will sneak up and win .He has been so confidant.
May 23, 2012 at 17:41 #405273I like TAKAR i think though he lacks the form of those above him he take the step up in class in his stride.
May 23, 2012 at 18:54 #405278takar is interesting… I think him and hermival are the least unexposed in the field. don’t think much of parish hall or obriens lot, so should be between those two.
May 24, 2012 at 14:27 #405342I like "least unexposed".Awakens me.Love O’Briens "lot"(ran well at Newmarket though,) utter disregard. However Bolger is no fool.Disregard at your peril.
May 24, 2012 at 16:13 #405350I think Trumpet Major must have a good chance of winning this race.
I have no confidence in Power and I think Parish Hall is beatable at 8f as a 3 year old. I’m hoping he runs well enough to ensure he turns up at Epsom.
Hermival could be a good thing, but if the ground is good or good to fast he might not like that.
Takar to me does not seem to have enough speed in his breeding to win this.
Yes, I’ll go with Trumpet Major.

"least unexposed" is an oxymoron, moron….
Parish Hall will hopefully win this then it’s a straight duel between him and Camelot, with Bonfire a close third….nothing else will touch these three in the Derby IMO.
May 24, 2012 at 21:15 #405370rich 1985, another know it-all numpty added to the block list.
May 24, 2012 at 22:53 #405373ANyone interested in Crusade? He won the Middle Park last term, then ran on the dirt at Churchill. Not been out since.
May 25, 2012 at 01:21 #405381worry with crusade is will he see out the stiff mile. however if he does he’ll be a major contender, that is clear. I was certainly much more impressed with him in the middle park than anything that came out of the dewhurst.
as for parish hall, I wasn’t at all impressed with that dewhurst as i’ve said, and I don’t think he was the best horse in that race anyway, just that somehow everything fell right for him. quite frankly i’m astonished he’s trading so short and he looks a huge lay.
May 25, 2012 at 11:35 #405421Crusade no longer seems to be in the betting on racingpost.com, is he running?
May 25, 2012 at 11:56 #405422Like Power for this, he’s 1121 at The Curragh, didn’t get a run in The Dewhurst, will get gorund to suit also.
Took 8/1 with Corals earlier in the week, Ladbrokes now have him 7/2 (9/2 generally) which is a tip in itself.
Agree Parish Hall is too short in the betting, last 10 winners have all had a prep run, I think he’ll have to be exceptional to win this first time out and over a distance that will be on the sort side for him.
May 25, 2012 at 11:58 #405423Crusade runs in the Greenlands the race before the Guineas along with Nephrite.
May 25, 2012 at 21:26 #405460I hadn’t looked at this race ante-post. Expected to backing the unexposed sorts who didn’t run in the English 2000 (eg
Parish Hall
), or the ones who did but ran poorly (eg
Power
). But it seems to me they’ve now
over-bet
those by some way. I believe the best value bets now are the "established";
Hermival
@ 6/1 and
Trumpet Major
@ 7/1 (saved on Takar @ 7/1).
Power
is priced up as if he’s both "
certain
" to do better than in the English 2000 with different ground and "
certain
" to improve even on 2 year old form. It may be "
possible
" or "
probable
", but not "
certain
". Parish Hall is priced up solely on the trainer’s bullish reports and insistance his horse
needs
a firmer surface… Quite
possible
, but that’s
not
what his form indicates (
so far
). Also may need further than tomorrow’s trip on his (in)breeding.
Have to take on trustHermival
is as good on a sound surface, but he’s still improving and possibly on the wrong side at Newmarket. Ground should suit
Trumpet Major
too, although he’s more exposed this doesn’t look (on paper beforehand) a good Guineas.
Takar
is the "could be anything" horse.
Value Is EverythingMay 26, 2012 at 06:50 #405483PARISH HALL is my first selection as I was disappointed that he didn’t turn up for the 2,000 at Newmarket and to my bookies delight lumped on POWER who managed to finish last but one. However there was good reason why he ran so badly, as he had encountered interference in the race and was definitely heavily eased at the finish giving us the impression that he had been saved.
The other odd thing about Power on Guineas day at HQ was that he was the first horse into the Parade Ring, now knowing Aidan O’Brien as we do and how he loves to tend to his best horses before their races, it did not bode well for his chances that day.
Today at the Curragh I guess we are going to see the real Power turn out, and for that reason I am splitting my bet between these two horses.
PARISH HALL
POWER

Parish Hall seems to be prone to misfortune.
