Is there a draw bias if it’s run on the round course?
May 17, 2010 at 22:08 #296113This race is run on the straight track every year.
May 17, 2010 at 22:59 #296117Does anyone have figures for what the overall betfair turnover and tote turnover was on the Irish guineas last year or over the previous few years.
They dont seem to be listed online
May 17, 2010 at 23:15 #296119When htn beat new approach the race was run on the round course, when cockney rebel won again the race was run on the round course
May 18, 2010 at 04:36 #296121Just as I feared, Steinbeck is not certain to run according to Aidan.Interestingly he did not give a reason.
May 18, 2010 at 07:44 #296128All races up to a mile at the Curragh are always ran on the straight track …. there is a slight dog-leg after a furlong. The 2000 Guineas has never been ran over the round course. Canford Cliffs and Extension have the classic appearance of horses that were trained for Newmarket, fell short and now stump up at the Curragh. Both have possible stamina issues also. Fencing Master a confident choice to improve past both.
May 18, 2010 at 11:45 #296138If JanVermeer goes in the Guineas he goes to Epsom, otherwise he goes to France. So Aidan said last week.
May 18, 2010 at 11:57 #296139If Steinbeck runs then JV might go for the 10f Group 3 on Sunday …. if he doesn’t then its most probably the 2000.
May 18, 2010 at 12:06 #296141I’ve got Jan Vermeer for the Derby, has AOB said he is running in the guineas?
May 18, 2010 at 12:21 #296144Some unreal racing at the Curragh. Every race is looking top Class
Cutlass Bay vs Fame and Glory vs Chinese White in the Tatts. Class!!!
May 18, 2010 at 15:02 #296155Chinese White? This is strictly a match between F&G and Cutlass Bay. CB is the class act and should cruise here. The only thing that tempers my enthusiasm for this horse is the recent switch from Fabre to Zarooni. Hopefully Frankie takes the ride.
May 18, 2010 at 15:10 #296156Aidan said JanVermeer will go to the french derby without a preliminary race or to the Derby with a preliminary race. So if he runs on the weekend he goes to Epsom. Does that make sense?
May 18, 2010 at 15:17 #296157Jan Vermeer is not a Epsom Horse.
He is a huge chunky animal. Massive hind quarters. Can’t see him handling that turn and that camber. He could well be a superstar but jeez i be astonished if a horse that big could negotiate at Epsom.
France is smart…also the ground has to be a worry for me if it was rock solid firm aswell. No need to run him when they got the Top 3 in the Market.
May 18, 2010 at 15:19 #296158Cutlass Bay should win this race. Like their will be simply no excuses if he loses. Everything is in his favour…Ground/Trip/Form.
Steinbeck runs according to a Irish Times Yesterday.

Thank Your sir!
May 18, 2010 at 19:09 #296177How did Xtension run poorly – He was a good fourth and he proabaly needed the run.
I can’t possibly imagine how he’d have needed the run given that he’s in the care of a small time trainer who was very confident beforehand.
Fencing Master is nailed on for this race.

That is correct.
The ‘straight’ mile that they use for the Guineas starts down near the railway line and curves to the right before the intersection with the round course.
The draw is rarely that big of a factor on decent ground. They usually come up the stands rail where it tends to drain that bit better when it’s testing.
