Strong southerly wind all morning sure to dry out any drizzle/moisture.

Might be best for River Tiber to steal a march on the rising ground as the going won’t be an issue and start praying when entering the straight that he can defy his breeding stamina-wise – will take some getting home if there is still wind resistance.

I’d hold back some ammo for in running entering the straight if I was a pro.

That would mean stealing a march at the beginning over the 1m Curragh course! ;-)

I’m going to be betting after a furlong

If haatem is taken to the front and isn’t being hassled il happily take 5.0+

If not I’m happy to just watch

    wd winners.

River Tiber ran well first run back, trip looked no problem.

Great race last furlong the winner really picked up.

The things I want most in life are the things that I can't win.

Wasn’t impressed with Levy there as thought he’d given Haatem too much leeway. Spencer rode a cracker.

Rosallion’s a class act though and picked up really well. He seemed to be a bit awkward over the quick ground at times though.

River Tiber was an eye-catcher and I just can’t understand why he wasn’t given a prep run for this.
Letting these classics slip away is so complacent on O’Briens part.

I would be surprised if River Tiber runs at that trip again. Possibly Jersey next? Favourite has fallen over the line, but they have got a Classic win. I doubt he will add that much more. This looked the limit of his stamina.

Nathan must be booking his Winter holiday in Barbados! What did winner trade at max in running anyone know?

I’d imagine they’ll try river tiber in sprints now

    Commonwealth cup very likely

They have nothing else for it and vandeek blotted his copy book

Well done Nathan and all that were on Rosallion. It was a great tussle between 2
good horses and little in it at the end. No complaints :good:

Ah thats harsh stilvi, the winners worth more than the distance, im a big levey fan but that wasnt his best, winner would have and should have won that a fair bit easier than he did

We’ll have to disagree, I think I am just being realistic.

Listened to the interview with Levey and one second he’s talking about how strong he would be over another 1/2 furlong, and next he’s saying that the horse would be better over Ascot’s sharper mile. What is it?

Can’t see why river tiber should drop back. Is bound to come on for the run and hasn’t run for a good while. Be interesting to see if he goes to the st James Palace with Henry longfellow. At least some form has held up. Vandeek getting gubbed has me head scratching on last seasons form though.

    I agree Mickey.

He’s run a blinder and I can’t see 1m being an issue in the future.

    The time was slow.
Haatem and Spencer controlled the race sat in 3rd and took it up crusing. The proximity of River Tiber who ran a cracker by the way suggests it turned into a bit of a sprint. Rosallion was in the worst position of the 3 finishers so I think he can be upgraded
Wether he truly stays a sapping mile against top opposition is still open imo
But I think today would give the team confidence and the horse some more experience going into Royal Ascot

    Thanks BigG
Managed to get on Haatem to beat River Tiber and also without Rosallion after reading your post so it was a good day
Although not good enough to be booking Barbados Zilzal.. :rose:

I thought Spencer, Moore and Levy all rode good races given the circumstances. As I said before the race, Rosallion has to be held up because otherwise he’d pull too hard and not get home. So Rosallion was always going to be held up whether the pace was fast or slow. Bit free early when caught out wide and Moore at pains to try and keep Levy there. Levy did the right thing getting in behind River Tiber and as a result settled Rosallion. ie Rosallion was then not in an ideal position given the slowish pace, but had no choice as settling the horse was essential.
Spencer almost pinched it, going for home in earnest at the right time to get a lead in a slowly run race without it being too slow (which would’ve suited the speed horse River Tiber).

Rosallion was technically below the form of his English 2000 Guineas runner-up, but even so doing very well given his positional disadvantage today. I’d expect him to beat Haatem a lot easier in a truly run race.
Haatem ran to the same level as Newmarket – a touch flattered by his proximity to the winner.
River Tiber ran to his two year old form, staying the trip but just not good enough. Whether he will improve for the run? Most of AOB’s have needed their first run but (unlike most last year) River Tiber was fit enough to win first time out as a 2 year old, so if so probably won’t improve as much as some have this term. I wouldn’t say he’s crying out to be dropped in trip either, but may well be equally effective at a stiff 6f.
    Unquestionable Unquestionably needed it.

That’s the beauty of racing. We all watch the same race and see different things. Can’t get haatem being beaten pointless by city of troy out of my head which makes me think this isn’t top form so wouldn’t be surprised if a progressive 3yo beats those of both guineas. Maybe some trainers have overdone the aiming for later targets which makes reading form so much harder.
To me river tiber will beat the front two next time as he will improve quite a bit whereas the front two I think have reached their ceilings. All about opinions. Great when you get it right. You look daft when you get it wrong.
