I’ve got to agree that Rosallion is a worthy favourite for this
but at the odds I think that the Hannon “2nd string” Haatem has
been a bit overlooked. He won the Craven 1st time out easing down
at the end and yet in a fast time suggesting he has trained on well.
Spencer drives me mad at times, but Haatem ran in the 2000 G with
no cover at all. He’ll definitely see out the 1m and I can see
him running on strongly towards the end if Spencer does his usual
    and tucks in early.

Haatem – various odds hoovered up between 9.20 and 8.00 Betfair Exchange

If aidans need the race fav looks a cracking bet. If river tiber is ready and stays must be a big danger.

BigG, I certainly think Haatem is the best of the rest
I’ll be looking for match bets with against the two fancy O’Brien horses and the without Rosallion market tomorrow
Hannon said he’ll probably split his two up after this race and talked about a step up in trip for Haatem so it might turn out tactically that one makes the running

If they make the running with haatem he could take some passing

The curragh has a bit of a golden highway on that rail

If mountain bear isn’t ridden as a spoiler he could get an easy lead too

Haatem at 100/30 w/o Rosallion is a decent bet imo.

Bet365. I took 3s then he drifted straight after.

Update : He’s 3s now again. Still a very good price though with O’Briens possibly needing their runs.

That sounds like a very reasonable bet GN23, I’ll definitely have
    a look at it.

No rain worries, might arrive a bit earlier than expected but that’s not till around 6pm. Moore rides RIVER TIBER because UNQUESTIONABLE isn’t fit enough to do himself justice after a setback otherwise he would be sitting on him so I can deduce that RT isn’t expected to lay a glove on ROSALLION.
Have put him in a double with Vandeek at Haydock which comes to 2/1.

I’ve backed Rosallion with part savers on Haatem and Unquestionable just in case. Just feel Rosa’ should win fairly easily if in the same form as Newmarket and if getting anywhere near the run of the race. But he is a hold up horse (and likely to pull too hard ridden more prominently so needs a hold up ride). So if beaten it’s imo likely to be by a prominent racer. Can’t see Take Me To Church being good enough to last home, Unquestionable is perhaps the most likely to be ridden prominently of the AOB team… And imo Haatem the most likely to chase Take Me To Church and / or the Coolmore pacemaker. If Haatem does not at least chase the pace then a slowly run race becomes more likely, being against the – in those circumstances – potentially hard pulling odds-on fav… So can see Coolmore trying to slow it down, especially because a test of speed would be more in favour of River Tiber. However, Haatem would have little chance in a falsely run race anyway – won’t have the speed – so would expect him to go on if no pace… That said it is Jamie Spencer on board Haatem. :mail:

Jamie Spencer is very good on front runners

Just he holds up 99 out of 100 of his rides

If they do give him an easy time on the front he’s usually a good judge of pace

I was with Rosallion in the English Guineas and initially a bit disappointed with what he found at the end having tanked through the race, perhaps not giving the winner enough credit there maybe. Rosallion did see the race out fine and clearly 2nd in a classic is a good effort but the winner was in a different parish in that final furlong at the end of a well run race, indeed Rosallion’s final furlong was about the same as Haatem’s. I suspect the way he travels he will be better over 7F this season at the highest level because as Ginge has alluded to if its steadily run he’s been known to pull like a nutter, if its well run like the Guineas was I suspect others would see it out better at the highest level. Having said all of that this is a really bad race if Aidan’s are half cooked and he’s just a better horse than Haatem who has done well to get a place in a classic on his cv.

I quite liked Mountain Bear last year. He might just be a No Nay Never who has peaked already, doesn’t quite get a mile and is not fit enough considering this is a prep run for the Jersey Stakes, but I had to have a bit on at 25-1 ew.

Acca free bet – Camille Pissarro and Vandeek along with Rosallion will see how that goes.

7 yards of fresh ground today

So you don’t want to be challenging wide down the straight as you’ll be on the worst of the ground
