Well, they can forget the Irish Champion Stakes and what else could be on his agenda? Nothing at Longchamp that’s for sure and he can also forget Champions Day. The ground won’t be to his liking and the’d stretch his season too much. I seriously think that was it for 2023…

“Paddington’s form is nowhere near what the betting suggested today.”

Yes I don’t see a piece of form that entitled him to a 125 rating

He did beat emily upjohn who is very useful but she was running over a trip short of her best and he was all out to do it

Inspiral then hated the ground and was committed far too early in the Sussex and he ended up beating 2 very average horses for the grade in facteur cheval and charyn

    Moore is team Coolmore, Mike.
He says what team Coolmore want prospective mare owners to hear.

A break and then a prep somewhere before the breeders cup mile maybe

But I agree that could be the breeding sheds for him

All about opinions Ginger. Imo if Paddington runs fresh like Mostahdaf he gets past the front runner today. But he wasn’t and that is that :o)

Looks like they found the key to the winner – space between races, interestingly Chapman asked Gosden about BC Classic and he didn’t actually say no……..but he also didn’t say yes.

Not sure he is an out and out 12F horse but the BC Turf on a sharp US track on fast ground could be an alternate option.

We know the ground is key to him and as we get later in the year the top European 10F races are more likely to be run on softer ground, which I don’t think will suit him so maybe US or even Hong Kong in December might be options they consider.

No disgrace from Paddington he ran his heart out he’s just not a machine.
He should have beat Emily by further at Sandown with near enough the control of the race against a stayer.
Like others have said his form wasn’t bombproof

Anyone trying to argue Paddington is a better horse than Mostahdaf is deluding themselves , he,s given him a load of weight and went at a pace that Paddington couldn’t live with ,
Paddington isn’t a superstar ….sorry to be the party pooper

Had Mostahdaf antepost but didn’t take much joy from the race.

I’m a Paddington fan and can’t stand seeing good horses over raced. I’ve said it before but I really detest Coolmores method of placing their horses.

Paddington only increased his reputation today for me. Showed unbelievable heart even though he clearly wasn’t right.
You could tell the second the gates opened he wasn’t his usual spring heeled self.

RubyLight, Paddington is far superior to Mostahdaf. That was his 7th run of the season and his 5th G1 in only 12 weeks. If Mostahdaf was pushed like that he’d have been tailed off today.

Also, Saying he gave weight to bolster his success is nonsense. Paddington is a 3yo and 3yo’s get weight from older horses for good reason.
Mostahdaf couldn’t even win outside G3 company as a 3yo.

I’d love to see Paddington get another crack at him after a break but O’Brien may have ruined the horse today.

Had Paddington won today he’d have been called an iron horse or whatever Giant’s Causeway was called.
Trainers get criticised for not running horses, plenty upset at only 4 runners today and trainers also get criticised for running horses too much
People were saying hes had a lot of races before today but not many people saying he shouldn’t have run so I don’t think Aidan can take all the blame, the lads apparently have a say on things
QE11 on Champions Day would be my next destination for him if all is well yet I haven’t heard that one being under consideration. Welds horse wins that anyway

“When a horse like Mostahdaf bolts in the inevitable question is: “Can this form be believed?”

I think there are reasons for believing it can.

Take him out of the race and Luxembourg have run pretty more to their ORs relative to one another.

So Ive taken the 4/1 with the William Hill Organisation, not least because he’s shorter elsewhere.

York are pretty good about not overwatering, so I think he will get a similar surface to Ascot.”

I’ve spent most of the evening trying to figure out which was the greater piece of sheer genius – Frankie Dettori’s ride or my original post on this thread.

Amazingly enough, I’ve decided I edged it over Dettori, but it’s a game of opinions.

GM, the reason why he won four G1s in the space of 10 weeks was a very simple one. The lads picked four rather weak races for him.
From all the horses that ran in the Irish 2,000 Guineas only Ace of Kings won another race afterwards which was a G3 at Royal Ascot. None of the St. James’s Palace also-rans won a race afterwards. The same applies to the ones he beat in the Eclipse. Out of the Sussex Stakes runners Inspiral (who ran well below par that day) won the Jacques le Marois 11 days later.

What I’m saying is, he was very well placed by his connections. It was Prescott-like placing in Group 1 races, but when meeting better horses and a better tactician with Lanfranco his run came to an end.

Don’t forget that Shadwell’s horses improve for age and this one may still have more to offer. His 4th in the Dubai Sheema Classic behind Equinox, Westover and Zagrey is a lot better than anything Paddington beat this season.

But, it’s just a game of opinions.
