Sadly has been put down about suffering a serious bout of colic.
October 16, 2009 at 15:57 #12929Three-time World Hurdle winner, Inglis Drever, has been put down after a bout of colic.
October 16, 2009 at 15:59 #253591RIP ID, true champion racehorse.
October 16, 2009 at 16:08 #253592RIP, InglisDrever
I loved ya, buddy.
October 16, 2009 at 16:25 #253594I dread horses getting colic more than anything;poor brave horse…so sorry. r.i.p. [strangely I was thinking about him yesterday because that song kept going through my head that his his lass always used to sing about him].
October 16, 2009 at 16:34 #253596Terrible news, RIP.
October 16, 2009 at 16:49 #253601Sad news and what a terrible way for a star such as him to go.
We will always have the memories of better days though and his third World Hurdle win was one of those "I was there days."
October 16, 2009 at 16:56 #253603Very sad news indeed, he so deserved a long and enjoyable retirement.
October 16, 2009 at 16:56 #253605Devastating news. Inglis was a proper NH legend and he will live long in the memory of all those who had the pleasure of seeing him race. Huge condolences to connections and also his die-hard fans, of which he had many.
October 16, 2009 at 16:57 #253606very sad news, great character.
October 16, 2009 at 17:24 #253610Poor lad didn’t get long to enjoy his retirement.
Very sad.
October 16, 2009 at 17:27 #253611of which he had many.
He certainly did, Zarakava. I never had the pleasure of seeing him race in the flesh, but was left in no doubt as to his popularity when seeing almost the entire Hexham crowd stand outside in a storm to watch his World Hurdle bid on a giant screen 19 months ago.
The deafening roars of approval when he outbattled Kasbah Bliss, having looked – not for the first time ever – to be travelling less well than many periodically throughout the race, confirmed this was a "home win" that they wanted and above all appreciated. Talk was of little else among them for the rest of the afternoon.
RIP Inglis Drever. Scrapper, streetfighter, and winner.

October 16, 2009 at 17:34 #253613Delighted he was saved after his Newbury injury, but desperately sad now that something different altogether had to claim him barely a year on. He deserved a longer retirement than that.
Rest easy, old boy.

A thoroughly likeable, genuine and tough horse who’s races and idiosyncrasies were a pleasure to watch. If anything ‘heartening’ can be taken from the sad news of his death it is perhaps that it wasn’t due to the wear-and-tear endured or injuries sustained in his races
October 16, 2009 at 18:36 #253623It was mentioned on another forum that, perhaps there may be thoughts now about a statue at Cheltenham; think he deserves one.
