I see the Times are advertising their racing archives by way of a report on "Glorious Goodwood" of 1897. Reading the report, you could well imagine a dashing James Sherwood or young,debonair Paul Haigh step out in front of you. It’s another case of Plus ca Change Except for the trek up to the downs which is an altogether more salubrious experience today.
