Didn’t expect that from Darwins Fox after his very disappointing reversal at Limerick. Doubt he would have beaten Ballyhaunis had he run.

I adore this horse and it would kill me to see him run well here without having a small bet on him. He’s a very idle horse over shorter distances so it’s hard to gauge whether he’ll stay or not. I reckon he will. His two mile speed and accurate jumping will be required around this track and I can see him sneaking a place again.

Can’t believe this price to be honest. This mare oozed class at Leopardstown when well short of fitness. She’ll strip fitter tomorrow and there’s nothing of the class of For Bill or Macville up against her. I think she should be a 1/3 shot.

Straightforward task for Golden Silver as he continues down the Nickname route. Should win easy with a clear round.
January 16, 2011 at 00:07 #336155Couldn’t agree more regarding Our Girl Salley. Anything around the 4/6 mark is serious value.
Is a WP Mullins first and last race double on the cards?!

Looks like it judging by the market. I’d prefer to back Lord Redsgirth e/w in the first though rather than take an odds on price about a French import we all know little about. Elliot’s horse surely won’t be out of the three on his last run here behind Aughaloor and would be the one to capitalise should the fav flop.
The bumper horse has a pedigree to die for. A lot of Willie’s look a bit behind at the moment and he’s not been carrying all before him in the bumpers. If he’s got a superstar though I suspect this lad could be it. Very easy task now with Mickelson a NR and he already has experience having won a point down in Bandon.
Our Girl Salley now 1/2. No surprise there!

January 16, 2011 at 20:55 #336304You are battling away Imperial,i like a fighter! The knowledge is there, the discipline is good and you are in profit. As soon as you feel your confidence is there get a couple of Ante-Post wagers running for you. Cheltenham is a Gold mine, you have the ability to be 4 figures up by the end of it! As for
Pandorama
!! You F****d up big time there in the Lexus and i can bet you felt Sick as a pig,i know!!
Poquelin
winning the Boylesport rattled me and you question yourself! We know from experience not to dwell on it,the positive is you knew Pandorama was a proper Grade 1 horse!
Cooldine
on the other hand is causing me anxiety! Keep up the good work!
January 17, 2011 at 08:15 #336346Patience is a virtue my friend.
I have two or three in mind for Cheltenham at the moment but I’m waiting for the right time (& price) to strike!

He’ll halve in price tomorrow if Quel Esprit is declared at Gowran which I’ve a feeling he might be. His novice hurdle form is as good if not better than the likes of Saludos and Realt Dubh and he looked a good recruit to chasing the other weekend at Punchestown.
January 19, 2011 at 18:25 #336736Nice price on Flat Out IC, sustained gamble for the Cheltenham Arkle today too!

Likeable mare who should appreciate this step up in trip. I make this a two horse race because I don’t think Sparky May will be as effective over three miles. Caroles Legacy is a worthy favourite but she has to carry 5 lbs more than the selection and had a very hard race at Cheltenham not so long ago. Only concern is the form of the yard but I see NTD had a winner at Southwell in the last few days so he might be starting to turn the corner.

Must admit I’m not a huge fan of this horse but I do think he should be a lot shorter here. Bar Big Zeb, the rest of the 2 milers are moderate and it’s hard to see any of the horses in the opposition here shaking him up.

7 lbs lower than he was in the Fred Winter last year when he finished a good second. Been well supported all morning and the yard have a good record in this race.

Here’s hoping for a good day for the Giggy House Stud! Not a lot of form to go on with Sir Des Champs but he had Willie’s other French import behind him at Auteuil and although he was beaten at Fairyhouse, he was smashed into before the off. If this fellow is better than him, they must think a lot of him. This race looks a weakish contest too – White Star Line looked good chasing home First Lieutenant but has been frustrating since. Wilde With Pleasure finds it difficult to get his head in front for one with such ability.
Ballymak ran respectably at Naas after a long absence. There’s a slight chance he might bounce here so I’m keeping my stakes down. I saw him win his second p2p a few years ago and he looked a smashing horse in the making. He holds an entry in the Moriarty and if he’s anywhere near that class, he should be accounting for Ad Idem and Cest Ca.
January 25, 2011 at 15:14 #337603Flat Out -€100
Shame he fell when he did. He had jumped super up to that point and looked to be going very well. 2 out is still a long way from home at Leopardstown though.
Laccordioniste -€50
Very disappointing run. Never jumped at all. All is not well with the yard possibly?
Master Minded +€72.73
Got the job done but far from impressive. I may back Big Zeb before the Tied Cottage on the back of this run from his supposed main rival.
Notus De La Tour -€50
Never looked like landing a blow.
Ballyhaunis -€6.25
I thought he might do the Shark’s horse for a bit of flat speed but I obviously underestimated Hidden Cyclone somewhat. There’s a big handicap in Ballyhaunis somewhere along the line though.
Mart Lane +€100
I was a big fan of Western Leader and his full-brother looks every bit as good. I could have got a much better price had I waited until Shrapnel was backed though.
Sir Des Champs +€137.50
Looks a real good prospect. Jumped nicely and put White Star Line in his place every bit as impressively as First Lieutenant did.
Ballymak -€50
Disappointed that he couldn’t beat Ad Idem who is thoroughly exposed. Looks like he needs a few furlongs extra.
