Always loved this horse; duked it out with KS and Denman and ran his heart out every time. Lovely to see him leading for a while today, tho I knew it couldn’t last. Hope he has a happy retirement
November 30, 2013 at 19:47 #460424Ditto from me. Bless him
November 30, 2013 at 20:04 #460425Delighted to see him away in one piece. Long, happy days in meadows ahead hopefully.

November 30, 2013 at 21:21 #460434Brilliant horse, one of my favourites – his Gold Cup win will live long in my memory. Happy retirement old boy.
November 30, 2013 at 21:23 #460435Was great to see him in full flight today and also so full of himself after the race.
November 30, 2013 at 21:34 #460437Surprised to see him so prominent, encouraging him to be keen, although might have been Hobson’s choice for jock given length of layoff
November 30, 2013 at 21:43 #460441Glad to see the old boy get out in one piece, and hope that he enjoys the retirement that he so richly deserves.
November 30, 2013 at 21:51 #460442Happy Retirement
Imperial Commander
and thanks for all the wonderful races. You have given us so much enjoyment and you will be missed.
So pleased to see you looked after in the race after it was clear you would not win, so no fairytale ending but at least tonight you are safe and sound in your box and looking forward to a long, happy and well deserved retirement.
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...November 30, 2013 at 23:01 #460455I still cant believe Kauto Star beat him that day in the betfair chase. The photo was called and me being on Kauto had screwed the slip up into a ball. Must have been a dodgy camera angle. Imperial did manage to get his revenge in the Gold Cup that season. Happy retirement dear boy.

Thanks for the memory Nathan I was at Haydock that day and still think Imperial won it! Happy retirement to him
December 4, 2013 at 00:51 #460732A shame he had to bow out when the yard are having such a thin time of it. Happy retirement to a high class, stirring battler.
