Another newbie here…
Don’t really live anywhere in particular-I’ll go wherever the jobs are- but trying to make my name in racing journalism at the moment. Just waiting for that fabled ‘first break’!

September 6, 2006 at 17:36 #103301Welcome to the forum :)
September 6, 2006 at 17:45 #103302Hi Pete.
A golfer myself. Down to single figures, just.
Any tips for the Ryder cup?
Welcome, by the way.
P.S. Ignore the hoppster, he’s a weirdo!!!:o
September 6, 2006 at 17:58 #103303Thanks for the welcome.
lollys mate — I think that a lot of people are underestimating the USA team in the Ryder cup. Tom Lehman is going to be a good captain imo ( he won’t put Tiger and Phil together, that’s for sure! ) and I’m not too confident about how some of the European team will handle the pressure. Tiger is in awesome form & will be an inspiration to the USA team.
What do you think?
September 6, 2006 at 18:08 #103304Think Tiger will win all his. That obvious what with his form since losing his Dad.

Re pressure. I think its fairly equal, but of couse we have the home advantage, and I think that will help us a lot. The Yanks dont like it up em!
I do however doubt the inspirational values of Woosie.
Torrance was so solid. To me Woosie is lacking some what.
40 foot put from Monty to win it !
September 6, 2006 at 18:18 #103305Hi and welcome SwallowCottage.
Liking NH racing is understandable, but GOLF ! :puke:
It’s hard to think of a more boring sport – except perhaps F1 racing.
Nice to have you on board though.
September 6, 2006 at 18:23 #103306What about Woosman’s dyed hair?
Why can’t people grow old gracefully?
Regards- Matron
September 6, 2006 at 19:26 #103307Thanks for the welcome.
Insomniac – I assume that watching golf helps you go to sleep then! Golf is ok for betting purposes but I agree with your view of F1.
Matron – You’re so right about people growing old gracefully but I sometimes wish that I had enough hair to dye.
September 6, 2006 at 21:44 #103308Welcome to the Forum SC.
I think the Ryder Cup is a coin toss this time around so would back the US at odds against. Every chance, given the traditional topsy turvy nature of that particular tournament to lay off at bigger odds.
I don’t mind golf generally but I do think the Ryder Cup hoo-hah is a bit of a nonsense. I remember when it was regarded as a side event, admittedly when the Europe team was just Britain, and I think it is an event which has been hyped up by the media to conveniently add some content to a dullish period of the year.
September 6, 2006 at 22:02 #103309hi swiss cottage – welcome to forum (quite new here myself)
seems very lively with many topics raging
regarding golf know little about betting on it – do you do yr own selections – dont know if you have seen guy on atr sometimes jeremy bennett – he gives golf tips and supposedly is quite good although never really checked tips – seems unless one of the big players (woods etc) the odds are massive
best of luck on forum
September 7, 2006 at 09:08 #103310Absolution – thanks for the welcome. I do my own selections at Golf & I’ve been very lucky at it :) . I don’t follow tipsters but I’ve heard that some of them are quite good. It’s surprising how short some odds get on Betfair for players who rarely or have never won tournaments & it’s a good opportunity to bet against them. Horse racing is much more interesting and exciting though and is my main love in sport.
September 7, 2006 at 09:51 #4321Good morning all. Long time lurker – first time poster.
I know Grassy and contribute on other sites – thought is was time to join in here.
I’m a part owner in a couple of horses Moonwalking on the flat (a nice 2yo with scope to improve to a decent 1m +) and Delray Beach (4yo French Hurdler who should hit the track in October).
I intend to disagree with everything Grassy says – despite most of it making sense. ;)
September 7, 2006 at 09:54 #103336Hi there underscore – welcome to the forum.

I commend you on the first part of that sentence but I’m a bit worried about the second bit!!
