Under duress from members of the committee, he then confirmed that the issue was “financial in nature” and related to “governance around financial transactions”.

Sometimes I visit this great forum, see last poster on a folder and wish I could have a bet on which thread they just posted on – I’d be absolutely bombs in front!

This is by no means a criticism of anyone – it’s just something that makes me smile.

The authorities in charge of our great sport continue to give the impression of, at best, considerable incompetence.

I will be following developments in this story with the usual combination of disillusionment and fascinated horror.

I’d always assumed no racing jurisdiction could ever run their domestic sport any worse than the BHA run racing in Britain.

But the IHRB obviously heard my assumption and said: “Hold my Guinness!”

You and Louise (when it’s in Ireland) are!

I can have my biggest bet of the year you will both post on threads like this.

If only I could get a bet on!

Keep posting Archipenko :-) I don’t have a lot of time to post on here at present, but I’m definitely interested/horrified by your updates!

I suspect there are a lot of people who find this forum an interesting read, but who rarely comment. Possibly this is because they feel they don’t have much to add, though I always think it’s good to acknowledge an interesting post if it hasn’t generated much other discussion.

100% agree with Marlingford – I always read this stuff and I’m sure others do too.

Another one which piqued my interest was when the wheels fell off Phoenix Thoroughbreds. As I had been reading about the OneCoin crypto scam around that time.

This is a good piece on it.

340 views so far on this thread tells its own story: Few might comment, but plenty read it!

I kinda regard Archipenko as TRF’s racing financial scandals correspondent – essential and compulsive reading!

    Thanks for sharing @Louise12.

Interesting to see the difference of opinion over the publication of the ex CEOs salary.

Apparently IHRB are withholding the information on data protection grounds. But the Comptroller and Auditor General questioned this approach.

Also of note was the discussion around 12 adverse analytical findings from 1000 out of competition tests carried out in 2021. None of these cases have reached disciplinary hearing stage yet.

No problem, Archipenko, if you can be bothered, watch the RTE one. You may not be familiar with Ryan Tubridy, but all you need to know is that he’s a presenter. CFO there doesn’t know his own salary!

It still amazes me despite the increased terrestial coverage racing now has ( Irish derby and jumps coverage today for example ) it continues at the top level to try and destroys itself within

    @IanDavies

When coming to the conclusion that the no racing jurisdiction could run their domestic sport any worse than the BHA run racing in Britain, which jurisdictions were on the table?

I am interested in any insights into other horseracing jurisdictions.

Obviously Singapore recently folded. The doping / equine welfare situation in the US is dreadful. It’s mad that equine doping is a criminal offence in France.

Tbh, I didn’t go into the subject in any greater depth than to regard British racing as the obvious worst, given it’s mostly run by a bunch of chinless ex-public schoolboys considered too stupid to get a job in the city.

Plus French racecourses are beautifully landscaped and serve French food so how can French racing possibly be worse?
