Is Peter Chapple-Hyam the right person to train to him?
I think he is giving the connection to him being half brother to Authorized.

November 19, 2012 at 22:50 #420354The horse has been overhyped already and it’s not even broken. It’s never going to carry it’s reputation!
November 20, 2012 at 08:33 #420372The horse has been hyped because we need a new Frankel.Coming down to earth is so painful. Some of us never let our feet leave the ground so the hype is just fun.Look at all the hype we heaped on Frankel.

I think it’s still debateable if he was better than Sea The Stars.
I think the affection the racing public have for the trainer is an influential factor.November 20, 2012 at 16:30 #420393The horse has been hyped because we need a new Frankel.Coming down to earth is so painful. Some of us never let our feet leave the ground so the hype is just fun.Look at all the hype we heaped on Frankel.

I think the affection the racing public have for the trainer is an influential factor. You can debate it Mark. It was pretty obvious to everyone else.

Arguable Sea The Stars achieved more in a shorter space of time.
As for Hydrogen, he has the right breeding but the right trainer ? Have my doubts.

Firstly, achieved more and being a better race horse are not the same thing.
Secondly, we know the argument ; Sea the stars won The Derby, an Arc and a guineas! People love to confuse prestige and history of a race with actual context ; what was in the race that year.
Sea the stars was not a better racehorse. More versatile? Probably, but only because of the way he was campaigned. I have a feeling Frankel would have won from 6 to 12 F in the right conditions.
Outside of versatility, i cannot think of a single measurement that suggests Sea the stars was a better race horse or achieved more.
November 20, 2012 at 23:21 #420426First of all stop hijacking this thread for yet another STS V Frankel debate!

The hype for Frankel was based on his perceived ability whereas the hype for Hydrogen is based on his fancy pedigree and even fancier price tag. Neither of those things is necessarily commensurate with ability.
November 21, 2012 at 04:01 #420433I however believe that the hype is based on peoples need to fill the void created by the retirement of Frankel.
November 28, 2012 at 19:10 #421111Hope they’ve kept the receipt.
