Mossy Joe yesterday; best performance I’ve seen by a hunter for years.
September 23, 2013 at 13:50 #452200Word has it that Rival D’Estruval is being aimed at the Foxhunters 2014. If he turned up fresh on reasonable ground he’d be very hard to beat if anywhere near the horse he looked at the Festival this year.
October 9, 2013 at 09:48 #454261Rival D’Estruval is indeed being aimed at the race he will have a PTP at Alnwick later in the year then a hunter chase to qualify.
If he hadnt fallen last year he would be rated 149+ and if he ran to that mark he would win the Fox Hunters 19/20.
Beshabar is also being aimed at the race which is a bit of a surprise as he looks tailor made for the Grand National and really well treated off his current mark. I wonder if hes not quite as good as he was, or if they might try and do the double. Running in PTP to protect his mark then unleashing him on the Foxhunters at Chelt once the weights are out for the Grand National.January 4, 2014 at 19:06 #463933Nineteith Minute has been doing well pointing, I believe so I’m looking out for him in Hunter Chases.
January 20, 2014 at 15:53 #465413Struggling to see the value in Salsify at half the price he was in last year’s market. On the day he was a very fortunate winner and then got absolutely hammered by Mossey Joe. Has he suddenly improved?

He didnt get the best of rides last year and he does also prefer better ground. However, I saw MJ destroy him at Stratford and have backed him accordingly. 10/1 looks good value assuming all is well and good with him.
I see Quel Esprit is being campaigned for Hunter Chasers. Class act on his day, however, he’s not had the best jumping record and added to that i’m not the biggest fan of Mr PW Mullins when his mounts have to leave the ground!January 20, 2014 at 18:23 #465419Sorry to say but there was an article in yesterday’s Post ‘Joe likely to miss festival after dispute’. Apparantly, he is to be sold this weekend.
I have read elsewhere that Quel Esprit isn’t qualified.

It will be interesting to see how long quotes remain for him on oddschecker.
January 29, 2014 at 22:27 #466480Very impressed with Mossey Joe myself at stratford and looks like a banker but will he be the same horse at cheltenham and only 6 weeks to prepare him for the foxhunters now in comparison to others which will have been aimed at it all season. i think oscar delta could gain compensation for last year.definitely a great ew bet would have won last year and been placed in previous 2 runnings

January 30, 2014 at 16:16 #466541Poquelin dead, so that’s another one out of the way for Mossey Joe.
He’s turning into one of the bets of the meeting.

Salsify a real doubt now.
Mossey Joe into as low as 7/2 with Hills. Everything crossed that he gets to Cheltenham fit and ready to roll, the 10/1 is looking sweet
February 18, 2014 at 14:21 #468423Any word on Mossey Joe?
Obviously been given a Grand National entry, however approaching three weeks to the Foxhunters and still not entered up. I saw something about him running in a Point – anyone know where and when?
No signs of weakness on Betfair which is a positive.February 18, 2014 at 23:42 #468447 -
