As the first, in the case of JHJ, endangered life and limb to both horse and jockey, for me there is no debate, it’s a no brainer.
ETA, sorry to be abrupt, but there is more to racing than the punter’s pocket……
February 10, 2011 at 08:46 #339698Hearing is now in July.
JHJ lawyers requested extra time to build a defence.April 11, 2011 at 14:57 #18172Has a date been set for the Howard Johnson hearing or are they waiting until after Punchestown?
April 11, 2011 at 18:35 #349830I heard an unsubstantiated rumour that all the staff had been advised they would not be required after July. Only a rumour though, not sure if it’s true, anyone else heard this?
April 24, 2011 at 13:15 #18335I am still waiting for the Howard Johnson enquiry to start.
April 24, 2011 at 13:17 #351966Great character in my opinion.
Hope all goes well for him.
April 24, 2011 at 23:06 #352027Funnily enough I was chatting to fellow forum member Rob North at Kelso and we were saying exactly the same thing.
Was the date announced at any point?
April 25, 2011 at 09:15 #352051I hope it turns out he hasn’t done anything wrong. If he has, I hope he never trains a horse again.
Either way, it’s unfair having this hanging over hima, just like it was unfair Fallon having an investigation hanging over him, and several other cases in recent past. BHA are so slow it’s ridiculous. This type of thing is bad for racing’s image when there is the story but no conclusion, they really do need to get on with things.

He/his legal team are the ones who asked for the hearing to be deferred from the provisional date in February, so you can’t say it’s unfair – it was his choice.
Think it’s due for June.
April 25, 2011 at 11:36 #352070Should have been warned off years ago from what I’ve heard.

‘from what I’ve heard’
Thankfully the justice system in racing, like it or loathe it, relies on evidence rather than hearsay!
The offences of which Howard Johnson is accused are extremely serious, and a long ban awaits if found guilty, but the key word is IF.

April 25, 2011 at 14:19 #352095I can’t condone what he has done, but it worries me that it will be another nail in the coffin of northern racing if he is banned.
April 25, 2011 at 17:59 #352137So what is northern racing bringing to the party?
April 25, 2011 at 19:15 #352155Fortunate enough to keep £100k in readies at his home:-

A darned good festival at Perth to kick off 2011-2012 for starters!
April 27, 2011 at 05:40 #352343Isn’t that in Australia?
