I don’t have a set pattern. I like the randomness of the whole thing. I don’t really do systems or stats.

    .. you’ll always be welcome at BET(£)3.65 .. :D

im quite obsessed. i like to have a bet on every jumps race just to challange myself, regardless of how small the stake is.

read the forrm at work, place the bets on my mobile at dinnre, and then watch the races ‘as live’ when i get home on the sky planner.

1 selection ( handicap races only) per day. System generated via sequence of rules. Multiple qualifiers narrowed down to the one NAP by priority overides. Stake = 4% of BANK (essential), as is the meticulous recording of all bets.

You don’t need a system to get a good few wins on the board if that’s what you’re inscinuating :P . I don’t listen to that many stats, or have a system as such, but the penny finally dropped and i do alright.

Having knowledge of horse racing in general, not just individual horses can be as useful as anything. For example, knowing course facts, trainer preferences, weather conditions, soil types etc. I often will spend 30 minutes glancing at a days racecard and can just as easily come up with a few good winners as if i spend hours studying each race.

With age comes experience! With experience comes wisdom. With wisdom comes winners!

I think much depends on the individual and the way they chose to bet. Mentally I couldn’t handle betting everyday. Watching 10 horses lose and then 1 winning at 14/1 may make a small profit, but it would drive me insane.

I know it works for some people but betting like that is really is down to pure chance if you end up winning IMO. I suppose all gambling is but long losing runs shatter confidence, desparation sets in and you start throwing shyte at the wall and hope some sticks.

I much prefer backing in top class races but don’t restrict myself to doing so. It depends on what runners certain yards have running whether I have a bet at places like Lingfield, Hexam etc., or not.

Most days I will have a quick browse then spend my time concentrating on the next big meeting, watching vidoes and chatting to my racing pals back in the UK on Skype, on average I’ll be on to the UK 6 hours a week discussing future races, any info they might have picked up at the races and sharing opinions.

I find like Skype chatting/posting on here helps tremendously as very often someone will make a point you haven’t thought of or say something you didn’t know.

It’s all about colating info for me and using it when you feel the time is right. Very often someone will say something I disagree with, which is great, as it makes you really think about what you are doing.

The last bet I had was in the Irish Oak and my next are tomorrow/today at Market Rasen which is about par for the course. (Toshi ew and Factotum*** to win) My main aim is to try and build a bank up and then try and make money when the big meetings come along. Prices tend to be better and getting money on is much easier at Ascot/Cheltenham than it is at Southwell all weather and there is no sense in studying these meetings to find a good thing if you can’t get on.

If I have a good win I will use some of it for antepost betting which can be dodgy but if I have won the money and the horse loses or doesn’t run it doesn’t hit the pocket so hard. I spend as much time as I can finding out where trainers intend to run horses either by reading or asking my mates back home if they know.

As I said we all have our own way of doing things and if it’s working for you don’t try and fix it if it’s not broken.

May I suggest for the action junkie(I am one myself) that doin a small placepot at a meeting instead of punting something you half-fancy cpuld be an option. I am as guilty as anyone for chasing or pretty undisciplined bets but I think a small placepot gives me an interest in the first 6 races at a meeting and also helps me concentrate on my selection and the race as a whole. :)
