If greyhound racing is banned it will be the end of probably the oldest breed of dog in the world; the only one mentioned in the Bible I believe. When you look at the monstrosities that win best of breed at Crufts and then look at a totally fit for purpose greyhound there’s no comparison. Show greyhounds are not the same. And no one would choose a greyhound puppy as a pet; they only make good companions when they’re older. My whippet had me in tears every day for nine months till she grew into the best dog anyone could ever have. I can’t imagine a demon like that five times bigger.
March 14, 2026 at 09:53 #1759842“I can’t help noticing that the Green Party voted to ban it at one of their recent conferences”
Yawn. You’ve brought this up before and it appears that you have missed the fact that their decision was based upon a recommendation from the RSPCA.
I don’t agree with their decision, but I can understand why they have made it.
March 14, 2026 at 09:57 #1759845Before they worry about horses kept in luxury with love they might want deal with the drugs and crime on the streets ….
March 14, 2026 at 10:31 #1759862A recommendation they didn’t have to accept. Or is it the RSPCA Party?
March 14, 2026 at 10:39 #1759867When was the last time a politician did something for the greater good. Answers on a postcard. Politicians look to win elections and now only watch the way the winds are blowing. You only need to see how the right have swung 360 degrees on the illegal war in iran. A million more 30 year olds staying with parents as they cant afford a house, begging on every high street at shocking levels, unemployment shooting up,wages falling behind prices at an alarming rate. Far bigger issues around than a fantastically looked after and loved horse passing away which sadly can happen at any time. God i hate the way society has become since i was a lad. Nobody gives a toss unless if affects them or their team. So wrong.
March 14, 2026 at 12:47 #1759907I’ve got no time for the RSPCA. Receive lots of money from people who think they do a great job. If ever there’s a problem with any wildlife in our area people immediately call upon a small local rescue organisation that comes out immediately. Waste of time trying to get the RSPCA involved. Someone told me years ago that he disliked them as they put down healthy animals and I didn’t believe him at the time. Am I right in thinking that the government have put an end to the export of live animals ( or was it the last government?). I did read about it somewhere but it hasn’t had much publicity.

No, they didn’t.
But they looked at the facts and democratically voted on their policy.
Unlike the RWNJ parties, who neither look at facts nor vote on official policy.
I’m more than happy to continue any political discussion in the appropriate threads, although you tend to disappear when you’re asked for facts to support your extremist viewpoints.
March 14, 2026 at 18:23 #1759991Extremist.

Maybe in your mind. But anyone marginally to to the “right” of Karl Marx himself is an “extremist” in your world.
March 14, 2026 at 18:31 #1759992What was this thread about again

The more I know the less I understand.
March 14, 2026 at 18:44 #1759994@Cork no stars Try again – in the politics forum. Although I understand your fear of engaging there.
March 15, 2026 at 22:16 #1760179Without being extremist, I think the home team benefitted from the fact that all key Irish horses had a run at the DRF and there was no real handicap job coming over from Ireland. Maybe Saratoga was the class horse just running in a handicap.
March 15, 2026 at 23:57 #1760191Greyhound racing gone in NZ 1st Aug . It became dominated by few trainers with multiple entries milikng money , and not Mullins type multiple entries , way way way more domination .
Secret is be too big to close , at moment jumps and horsecracing as a whole too big to fail imho,Cheltenham was massive this year . .
Plus in NZ thoroughbred breeders have make very big friends in power , theres another good thing to do . - AuthorPosts
