Hi. One of my hobbies is building horse racing systems using databases. I greatly perfer databases that go back 10+ years. When developing systems, number of samples is key in terms of confidence. I know of Racexpert, Proform, Visual Formbook.
I used to use RSB, but they went belly up one me, much to my displeasure.
I am considering purchasing Sportsbook Winalyser, but haven’t heard much discussion about it anywhere online from members. Also, their order page is not a secured link, which is not a good thing.
Has anyone tried them or know much about them?
Anyone know of other horse system databases other then the ones I mentioned, that go back more than 6 years?
There are a lot out there that only go back 5 years.
Also, feel free to discuss databases and system building in general, if you wish.
Thanks

horseracebase
.
Subscription based (7.50 euros/month min.) – well worth a look.
April 25, 2011 at 01:04 #352034Thanks for you’re reply. I had heard of them before, but didn’t realize that their database went back as far as it did. I will check them out.
Cheers

April 28, 2011 at 02:17 #352481Thanks for the suggestion Bluechariot. It so happens I just tried them out. Depending on the setting used, it goes back 4 to 10 years. I think if you want BSP, it will only go back 4 years. Still, a good suggestion and I think it is a good program so far.
Unfortunately, I live in the land of the unfree, the USA, and so can not bet on Betfair as of now.
But I am using my down time to attempt to build profitable systems.
Cheers
April 28, 2011 at 21:13 #352622I have used raceform intractive,RSB,proform, visual formbook in the past..at present i use flatstats ..its by far the best system builder yet..there’s even a laying system bulder in there..10 years data

I am considering about using one, how user friendly are we talking here?
June 6, 2011 at 19:13 #359292Hi 3rdeye,
Try doing a search for SSR132 they offer race prediction software, but there is also a ready made database of results, going back to 1994 and it’s updated regularly, and the best bit is it’s a free download. It may not provide all the information you want but I found it helpfull. If you hear of any other options please let me know as I am looking for historical results databases for lay betting.
Good luck
June 7, 2011 at 03:19 #359336Hi StevenG. I took a quick look at the site you mentioned and will look at it in further detail later. At first glance it does not look like you can build systems and run queries on it, but I may be wrong.
I may be able to help you, but I am not sure what you are looking for. Are you merely looking for past results? If you give me more detail, I may be able to help you.
Regards,
Bjorn
June 7, 2011 at 04:54 #359338I just copied the data out of the database. I use Excel and because of the volume of data had to copy it out in stages. I then use that to check out how a system would work. I only use starting odds at the moment because that is only what I have, but if you know of any lists showing past lay odds that would be great.

SteveJune 7, 2011 at 22:39 #359474Hi Steve,
Here is a link to Betfair historical data page. You need a betfair account, I am assuming you have one. It shows historical data for horse racing. This should be exactlty what you are looking for in terms of betfair odds in an excel spreadsheet format.
Let me know if that does not work for you, and if not, why not.
Regards
Bjorn
