Primo Lady in the 8.20 at Kempton on 21/09/11 has e/s1 next to the weight value.
Am I right in thinking this means
e = Inside Rims
and
S1 = wearing Nasal Strip for first time
If so why is there a slash in between? I have seen multiple codes listed together without being separated with slash(s).
September 22, 2011 at 23:08 #371715Eye Shields (for the first time) I believe.
September 23, 2011 at 07:46 #371722Pen N Paper is quite right, it means ‘eyeshield for the first time’.
In case you haven’t seen them, an eyeshield is like a set of blinkers but have a mesh cover in place of the eye cup. It protects the eyes, presumably against bits flying up from other horses’ hooves.
If you want a good example, do a search for a picture of the Aussie sprinter Choisir as he used to wear them when racing.

September 23, 2011 at 17:46 #371775Thanks all for the info. I found an interesting article about Choisir and eyeshields here http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/general/racing-choisir-sets-a-trend-in-changing-face-of-horse-fashions-586885.html
