Katchit for winning the champion hurdle as a 5 year old, pure guts of steal on that windy day at Cheltenham.

Denman, did everything right on the day of the Gold cup! his form is second to none!
Denman for his demolition jobs at Newbury and Cheltenham.
Kauto Star an honourable second for best performance in a chase in the King George.
Denman, for his outstanding display in the Gold Cup at Cheltenham and for the ease in which he won the Hennesy under top weight.
Gambling Only Pays When You're Winning
A near toss-up between Denman and Master Minded. The former gets my vote because of the viewing figures for the Gold Cup and that fact that what he achieved retains a more solid look IMO.

Absolutely fantastic horse and produced some memorable performances over fences.
Masterminded easily for me, the way he came round the corner at cheltenham, stretching from voy por ustedes, and the disbelief in the commentators (and probably everyone waching’s) voice was something I may only see once in a lifetime. Unbelievable. Completely eclipsed denman for me.

Such a tricky vote and they all should share it but his gutsy win in the Gold Cup was sheer brilliance.
Denman looks like he’ll win and it’s probably well deserved but my own vote goes to the ever gutsy Inglis Drever.
There is something very special about staying chasers who carry top weight to victory in big handicaps, when they turn out to be champions as well they have to be cherished…so it must be Denman.
I just give it to Katchit because they said he couldn’t do it…..too small, not good enough, hasn’t improved…he proved them all wrong
As a dyed-in-the-wool fan of heroic chasers it would have to be Denman for both his Hennessy and Gold Cup wins; races that have rarely been bettered, but the horse who’s given me most pleasure over the last few years is a hurdler: Inglis Drever. Given retirement at least beckons he’s got my vote
