Whilst there are thousands of people on credit crunch food should we take Masterchef off air too?
January 7, 2009 at 16:53 #202190Firefox,
You, obviously haven’t watched the programme in full.
It is, about people buying properties at "auction" and then "renovating" them and then selling them on for a profit or to rent – if they can.
The current series reflects the problems in this market due to the "downturn" in the economy.
Regards – Matron
January 7, 2009 at 17:15 #202198I don’t know Matron, I still get this vision of vultures hovering looking for a free lunch.
Maybe someone should commission a program entitled "Repossession, Repossession, Repossession.January 7, 2009 at 19:31 #202258Properties go, to "auction" for all sorts of reasons.
People die with no relatives to pass the property onto so, it has to be auctioned off. Relatives getting rid of a property after a "loved one" has passed anyway, etc, etc.
Of course, at the moment there are a lot of properties going through that have been repossessed.
You can hardly blame the programme for the economic situation at present.

The Beeb have a show tracing the relatives – special companies do that, tis called Heir Hunters, genius show.
January 7, 2009 at 20:10 #202274The best bit would be when someone tunes in ….to see their gaff being auctioned off
January 7, 2009 at 21:17 #202298Didn’t notice anyone complain about all these homes programs when they were helping prices to rocket through the roof, to the unsustainably high prices which we find ourselves in today.
Personally, I have no problem at the prospect of buying a house which has been repossessed.
January 7, 2009 at 21:24 #202301Firefox,
I really cannot see what is wrong with programme.
It is not insensitive at all.
It is about properties going to auction, the people that buy them and what they do with them.
Perhaps you are being too sensitive?
If you feel so strongly about it you, have the right to complain to the BBC as a licence fee payer.

Matron I am not blaming the programme for bringing about the current recession in the housing market. I am however accusing the BBC of being insensitive in the extreme in continuing to show it.
If it upsets you that much then don’t watch it.
If others want to they can.
What about personal choice to watch what you want?
January 7, 2009 at 21:41 #202309You are far too sensitive Firefox – it’s a big bad world out there.
January 7, 2009 at 22:02 #202315On a gloomy January afternoon, the BBC complaints department has been cheered up no end ….
January 7, 2009 at 22:22 #202322Clivex,
It will make their day – for once, not a complaint about Mr. Ross.
Regards – Matron
January 7, 2009 at 22:42 #202331I was referring to Mr Jonathan Ross.

January 7, 2009 at 23:16 #202349FFox? You ACTUALLY wrote to the BBC about that??
January 9, 2009 at 02:36 #202617I don’t see that I am being sensitive, rather I am trying to show consideration and compassion for others less fortunate than myself. Luckily Firevixen and myself are very much on the “extremely low” side of a risk spectrum, so we find ourselves with 70% equity in Fox Towers, and a very manageable mortgage even if we both lost our jobs in the morning (redundancy insurance policy a further cushion in place to pay the mortgage and bills for 12 months).
As I watched the programme I thought to myself how would I feel if I had just had some reptile from a mortgage company take the keys to my house, which is the sold at an auction.
Yes, it is a big bad world out there, just ask the good people of the Gaza stip. It doesn’t mean we have to accept it though.
Trust me, firefox – you are being too sensitive on this one.
You will end up giving yourself a nosebleed, if you carry on at this rate. The world is not a very nice place generally speaking, but the Beeb are not taking the slash out of those in financial difficulties, just by dint of running a show about house auctions.
I mean……fer fecks sake…..listen to yourself.
January 9, 2009 at 14:45 #202688I complained about the weather report today because it upsets coffin dodgers with one bar on the fire and a tin of catfood
January 9, 2009 at 14:45 #202689I’ve heard a rumour they’re selling off Anne Frank’s house next week on the show; this time THEY’VE GONE TOO FAR!!
