As you point out Simply Perfect has improved for the trip, but it’s worth bearing in mind that she was also hampered in the Moyglare. The proximity of the likes of Gaudiemus, Dimenticata and Silk Dress also make it difficult to rate that race much higher than 106 imo.
Regarding the sales race, Miss Beatrix had a huge draw advantage over the likes of Regime and Finsceal Beo who went across to the far side and in my opinion didn’t have to improve on her Moyglare effort to land that valuable event.
October 4, 2006 at 12:50 #78520I would leave the 1000 Guineas alone as things stand. I’m not a fan of 2yos who win over a mile as a 2yo and continue running over a mile as 3yo. I know Nannina won the Fillies Mile last year and won the Coronation Stakes this year, but most winners over a mile as 2yo want further. This rules out Simply Perfect and Finscail Beo in my eyes.
I’m not so sure Sander Camillo will stay the mile, and even then the ground might be against her.
Looks like being a very poor season for 3yo fillies IMO.

You dont half stick your neck out…. :cheesy:
Why wont SC stay a mile? My limited skills at understanding breeding suggests she will. Also, last performance suggested the same. Running on up that incline at newmarket over 6f at 2 …
Bad year for filles? Why? If anything i think weve seen better than usual animals so far, but its way way too early to say<br> <br>
October 4, 2006 at 18:40 #78522HRE may not take up his Dewhurst engagement :( according to RP
<br>"O’Brien said on Wednesday: "We will wait and make a decision about Holy Roman Emperor going to the Dewhurst after the weekend. He seems to be in good enough form following his win at Longchamp on Sunday, but he has had a couple of runs quite close together so we will wait and see how he is over the weekend.
"At this stage he is by no means certain to run at Newmarket and if hemisses the Dewhurst I’d imagine that he will not be going anywhere else this season."
October 5, 2006 at 09:40 #78523Thats a pity…
The RP has stated that HRE looks like a "fully made up" two year old and thus less likely to train on.
I wouldnt know, but opinions please?
Strikes me that the stables intention up to now has been to campaign him fairly extensively which might be a clue in itself
October 5, 2006 at 09:51 #78524I’m not a fan of 2yos who win over a mile as a 2yo and continue running over a mile as 3yo.
You obviously did not rate Six Perfections,Divine Proportion or Soviet Song who all ran in mile races as two year olds.
<br>I see no reason why HRE should reverse form with Teofilo. Like Clive suggested he has the make up of a very sharp early two year old and unlikely to progress much next year.
October 5, 2006 at 09:58 #78525I posted on here after HRE won his maiden and said at the time that I thought he was a really well developed horse for his age and while he’s strengthened up I can’t see him growing a great deal over the winter.. I’d run him now. He is a very similar horse in physique to Horatio Nelson who was also a compact and strongly built two year old who I didn;t think grew over last winter..
DJ, point taken, I just think her run behind the colts is good form and she has obviously continued to improve. Not really had a good look at her so can’t comment on whether she has scope or not but she could be a lively outsider.
October 5, 2006 at 10:05 #78526Regarding impressive two year old Irish fillies. Did anyone see Evening Time absolutely rout her field by 9 lengths to win on her debut in soft going at Fairyhouse. She is from a small first crop of Keltos and was running on strongly at the death, suggesting she’ll stay further. I think she has every chance of making into a pattern class performer – in fact I rate her justa couple of pounds behind Miss Beatrix. Prendergast has said she won’t run again this season so I worry she may not have enough experience for the Newmarket Guineas but with a couple of preps next spring she could be a contender for the Irish version.
October 5, 2006 at 15:41 #78527HRE does look a compact  2yr but thats does mean he will not progress over the winter many horse’s of his class have had the same look and the same was said about them eg: zafonic ,hawk wing  the rock ,looks can be deceiving

October 5, 2006 at 21:33 #78528According to BF forum (Irish Sports section) Coolmore have purchased Teofilo but the horse will stay in Jim Bolger’s yard.

Again looked very impressive. She may have something to prove under faster conditions but clearly an exciting filly.
October 9, 2006 at 10:49 #78530Didn’t see the race but to win by 11 lengths against decent opposition is no mean feat
October 9, 2006 at 13:36 #78531hell, that would have been out of this world…lol !!  5 lengths, drawn 11.  ÂÂÂ
DJ – agree very much with what you said earlier about this filly, and sorry I hadn’t read this thread before posting my own conclusions on the one I started, which seemed rather similar – I wasn’t plagiarising honest !:)
October 9, 2006 at 15:17 #78532No worries LL, a thread entitled ‘Holy Roman Emperor’ wouldn’t have been the most obvious place to have looked.

October 9, 2006 at 21:48 #78534I just can’t agree with so many people about HRE – I think he is a fantastic colt; a big, strong type who looks like he should mature well from 2 to 3 (IMO, naturally). I never, ever back 2yos for Classics but broke that rule earlier in the season when taking 33 about HRE before Ascot for the 2000 Gns next season, I was so taken with his debut. Apart from his disappointing run at Royal Ascot I haven’t seen anything since that would make me wish I hadn’t backed him for next year.
October 10, 2006 at 07:52 #78535You will on Saturday when Teofilo wins the Dewhurst
