I know he has been on fire lately but all his horses ran below expectations today.
It will be interesting to see what happens on Sunday but another poor day would worry me.
I don’t know if it is Johnson but his novices jumped poorly today.

Yeah; Richard “three and a half thousand winners and counting” Johnson can’t get his mounts to jump.

    That must be it.

Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit.
I don’t doubt what he’s done or winners he as ridden, however if Tom Scu or any of the other jockeys got his opportunities they would do the same.
I think there are better jockeys than him out there and he is champion because of the opportunities he gets.
His rides are sometimes littered with mistakes.
Barry Geraghty is similar and his rides appear to be drying up.

    No way.
Johnson wins on far more rides that are not the best horse in the race.
He has absolutely made horses like Native River.

The full Oscar Wilde: “Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit, and the highest form of intelligence.”
Researchers from Harvard Business School have recently supported the view that sarcasm is indeed the “highest form of intelligence”.
“To create or decode sarcasm, both the expressers and recipients of sarcasm need to overcome the contradiction (i.e., psychological distance) between the literal and actual meanings of the sarcastic expressions,” said author Francesca Gino. “This is a process that activates and is facilitated by abstraction, which in turn promotes creative thinking.”
In practice, this means that the expresser has to be creative in building the sarcastic comment, and the recipient is creative, after the event, in building supporting evidence into their future comments to nullify the potential sarcasm.

A number of the Hobbs novices that ran disappointingly in the last week or so have scoped dirty, been put on medication and transferred temporarily to another yard. This would probably explain the below-par performances, including one I have a share in which ran abysmally at Bangor last week. Absurd to imply that Johnson was in some way at fault.

A temporary blip and bears no relation to the low-level virus which afflicted the yard last season.

Encouraging words for us sarky b******s MV.

Highflyer – if they are scoping dirty in the yard (and have been transferred out of it) how are you sure it’s a temporary blip? Presumably others in the yard may be affected.

One of my favourite trainers and hope he doesn’t have the same sort of struggle as he encountered last year.

Rather worrying if the (or any) virus is back. Why only the novices? Are these kept together in a different part of the yard? Even so the virus could easily spread to all parts.

If Hobbs does get over this a lot of his horses should be handicapped good things after the poor performances of last season. We shall see.
