I may have missed this horse but I can’t remember his death being recorded here. He was on our local news tonight because he’d been killed at Newcastle racecourse in a bumper. The holes hadn’t been filled in when the hurdles were removed for the bumper and he’d slipped into one and had to be put down. The racecourse were found culpable and I believe, fined. Just a young horse.

RIP Hitman Harry
February 20, 2015 at 15:20 #751563Yes, does seem to have missed being noted here. RIP.
Article about it on Horse and Hound’s website. Seems ARC are dragging their feet over compensation to the poor owner.

Rest in Peace Hitman Harry and let me ask something:
Why do the most inexperienced horses have to run in the worst possible ground?
A bumper should be brought forward and being run at a much earlier stage on the racecard. It can be done and it should be done. - AuthorPosts
