I hope the same attention is given to the 25th Anniversary of the Bradford
City football ground fire in which 56 people died in 1985!A few years ago in the USA there was one of these "Reality Disaster Shows" where they claimed the Bradford fire was the result of hooliganism.
I showed my wife and step daughter the footage from World of Sport that day and that day will definitely go down in my life as a "where were you then" moment.
Similarly, I showed Hillsborough and explained to them the sham surrounding it.

Y’know I’d NEVER heard of the Bradford City F.C. Fire Disaster until a couple of years ago. It happened when I was 2/3 years-old but I live in Yorkshire and regard myself as a fairly cultured, knowledgable chap.
In fact, I think it was the comedy clipshow which brought it to my attention – showing the footage of it over a jokey commentary and wacky sound-effects had the local papers understandably outraged but until then they had NEVER mentioned it. Totally forgotten.
NWRA, as I remember the Bradford Disaster was caused by a lit cigarette falling onto rubbish which had accumulated over the course of the season under the stands. This started the initial fire which quickly spread throughout sections of the wooden stand.
Therefore, unlike Hillsborough (where it may or may not be true) there’s no external factor, outside of the club to concentrate or focus possible blame upon. Perhaps this maybe reason the people/supporters of Bradford prefer (not to forget but rather) to remember in a different manner.
Again if I remember correctly on the day of the Bradford Disaster two more football supporters were killed when a wall fell on them at a Birmingham v Leeds game. Such events seem also unimaginable today – lest we forget.

Yep, unfortunately I was there. I don’t remember it being two though but it’s a while back and perhaps one was a lesser mentioned adult.
IIRC as it invariably did in those days it kicked off and a young boy was crushed to death by a collapsing wall.
Dark times all round indeed.
