Any idea who this is? Doesn’t sound like anybody on the Racetech roster – presume the duty caller wasn’t able to make it this afternoon and he’s a late sub.

June 5, 2010 at 16:08 #298804If you’re talking about ATR, it was the inimitable (well, who would want to ?) Matt Chapman … didn’t hear the reasons why the scheduled commentator was absent … personally, I found it bearable as long as you turned the sound off completely !!!!!
June 5, 2010 at 16:14 #298807Matt filled in for ATR viewers initially, I gather (not that they’d have heard that on-course, I don’t think), but for the last race or two (at least) the course found someone and he had a go.
What a shame the sadly-missed Johnnie Fenwicke-Clennel passed on over a year ago – he called many of the points at Hexham, Friars Haugh and environs up until his death and he’d have loved to have stepped into the breach.

Ditto! I turned the sound off, made sure I knew the colours and did a commentary to myself.

June 5, 2010 at 19:46 #298870Chapman comes across as a genuinely affable, good-natured sort of bloke, but I found myself wondering if, for some reason, he wanted to go out of his way to rile people.
I found it bizarre that he gave what seemed like multiple accounts of the finish of the previous race while the next race was well in progress, obviously with its commentary blocked.
