AP O’ Brien said the greatest miler he has ever trained and when you look at some of the gretas he has trained at that distance, Rock Of Gilb, Georgeous George amongst others it is some statement to make…..
i couldnt wait for the race and wait to see Henry crowned the best around at that distance for this year
congrats to all
June 17, 2008 at 15:55 #168797Henry the Legend – Cobblers. Beat a distinctly moderate bunch, who were either not up to this level or were running over the wrong distance.
June 17, 2008 at 15:55 #168798Expect the ususal "sure what did he beat" type rubbish we usually get on here
June 17, 2008 at 15:57 #168802We can also expect the usual "Best /fastest ever trained" nonsense as well.
June 17, 2008 at 15:57 #168803Beat ya!

would you rate the Rock of Gilbralta?? he won 6/7 group 1’s in a row and the last defeat was jockey error, well if you do, O’brien said greatest horse over a mile he has ever trained so i will take his words as he seems to know what he is talking about
June 17, 2008 at 16:00 #168807I don’t understand all the negativity towards Henry.
He’s won 3 Group 1’s. Fact.
He could and probably will win more.

It’s obvious that Henrythenavigator is a very good horse indeed. I would just take all the usual eulogising from O’Brien/Ballydoyle with a pinch of salt as they seem to do this rather regularly.
June 17, 2008 at 16:02 #168810He beat a very good horse in Ravens but didnt beat the whole field in the style of a real superstar. He will always win by smaller distances because of the way he runs.
Hes very good. But thats about it i sense
We can also expect the usual "Best /fastest ever trained" nonsense as well.
lol
June 17, 2008 at 16:02 #168811Nothing against the horse. Lit up the season to date. Just get fed up with the Coolmore hype machine. I cannot be alone.
June 17, 2008 at 16:04 #168813Lol they say this every year about one horse or another.
It’s all about money and stud values.
Take it all with a pinch of salt and just believe what your own eyes tell you.
My eyes tell me Rock Of Gibralter would eat Henry for breakfast.

Still pisses me off the ride Mick K. gave him in the breeders

It’s meaningless – he says it every year! Just marketing…
Though there’s no doubt Henry is very good. But that wasn’t quite as impressive as I was expecting (didn’t seem to travel that well? needed some rousting along). And I’d like to see him beat his elders, just for the record (I don’t doubt he’s capable of it).
June 17, 2008 at 16:14 #168817Just enjoy. The horse has again beaten the best three year old milers around – and for the moment, that’s all that counts.

June 17, 2008 at 16:16 #168818"He can travel at a top class pace and then turn on another two gears" – Aidan O Brien
Just the two, Aidan?
It’ll be three next time!
June 17, 2008 at 16:18 #168819Henry is obviously very, very good. If he can do to the older horses whats he’s been doing to the three year olds then maybe I’ll accept that Henry is the best Aidan has ever trained. However until he does its a question that requires an answer. The older milers don’t seem exceptional by any means so I don’t think there’s anything to fear for Henry.
June 17, 2008 at 16:22 #168821quality horse. agree not quite as impressive as i expected but ravens pass ran a very good race and was going the better of the horses two furlongs out. there were many doubters on here before this race that he wouldnt win, he wins and then the doubters are still there!
what would be the plan now then? sussex stakes, longchamp, breeders mile/classic? QEII? all of them?! or even go over a longer trip?
