Sorry, that wasn’t very clear – mile races for Henry of course. I don’t think he should be sacrificed (if that isn’t too strong a word) to the Derby.
May 14, 2008 at 03:27 #163316Where is Kingdom Of Naples?

May 14, 2008 at 08:14 #163340Kingdom of Naples not running in the Dante, but is entered in the Gallinule Stakes in Ireland Sunday week. He may make Epsom, but…
His likely destination is the Irish Derby, which could be quite a race if the Epsom winner plus Casual Conquest plus Famous Name all turn up. Could it be the Derby this year?

Oh Colin you!
May 26, 2008 at 17:05 #165464I stand by the title of this thread (As well as being a little miffed that our great leader saw fit to start an identical one himself)
Will he run- yes
Will he stay- no chance.
As an aside, how awful are the prices for the Derby with the bookies currently- Coral fearlessly bet 5/2, 7/2, 9/2 twice, 5/1, 7/1, 8/1 and 9/1 the front 8 for a percentage take out from those alone of around 138%!May 26, 2008 at 17:17 #165466Oops – sorry carvills. Started mine in the aftermath of the 2,000 Guineas and forgot about this one.
May 26, 2008 at 18:33 #165478With what I read you’ve been having to deal with in the past 3 weeks you are more than forgiven Corm!
May 27, 2008 at 13:44 #165596it must also be said that the race looks very attractive what with the rest of the opposition. There is no doubt that Henry would be far and away the class horse in the race. Furthermore it can be argued that the the mile and a half at Epsom is pretty easy and on firm ground the free wheel round the bend into the straight might just conserve just enough energy for Henry to see it out. Also can anyone argue with John Magnier, very possibly the shrewdest man in racing with an unrivalled knowledge of pedigree’s and bloodstock

You can barely take your eyes off it at present. Have I missed something with Theeandme, incidentally? He seemed innocuous enough from what I’d seen, but then I was away from here for most of the weekend so don’t know what changed.

Not by me, nor seemingly by anyone else on this thread. The final mile is undoubtedly easy, but the first half mile is probably the toughest in British Flat racing if you deduce such things from standard times.

Clearly, yes. And quite justifiably so, whatever the outcome.
May 27, 2008 at 14:32 #165603God yes
That first half mile is a real scrum too. You can see the energy being sapped from some runners.
