I’ve absolutely no idea why anyone would have a go at someone who doesn’t want to lose their stake. The bookies deceive and look to beat people by any means necessary, so there’s nothing wrong with punters trying to get an edge. Well in CS.
Thanks Goldikova, I’m going to thicken my skin for the furore when I complete my Festival EW yankee, so far I’ve got three
GARDE CHAMPETRE
RITE OF PASSAGE
DUNGUIB (Hoping it’s the CH not the Supreme)I have had several big win bets this season, most have won but Agus A Vic was very costly a few weeks ago, I’ll not be able to use that cash again.
I’ve always quite happy with a bet to nothing and not losing my cash, hence my preference for EW
Almost all todays stakes represents the return from my 40 pts EW Knockara Beau @ 11/4 on Saturday. If I’d lost that cash would I have put so much on today?I can wait for a winner next time, if I had a win Trixie and all three were second that cash is gone forever
February 23, 2010 at 18:56 #278643You are an example and an inspiration to us all.
February 23, 2010 at 18:57 #278645That’s the spirit. Keep on lumping it on those e/w trebles, and it will take ages for them all to ban you anyway. It’s still a skill trying to get 3 places on the trot, regardless of their odds.

I am getting a tad concerned, referred bets is how it started with another of the big firms, it ended when they held me too long on the phone whilst referring an eventual winner before telling me the race was now off and I couldn’t have the bet as it was too late, then closing my account when I kicked up a fuss
It’s still a skill trying to get 3 places on the trot, regardless of their odds.
It’s not THAT hard, more members should give it a try, if that was the only type of bet I ever had I could understand.
February 23, 2010 at 20:24 #278681Well played Cheltenham, you are obviously a regular punter, but at least you put your money where your mouth is and your three short priced winners dont look so short when doubled and trebled!
Good show!February 23, 2010 at 20:44 #278686The fact that you found three winners is to be commended, as is the fact that you had the foresight to back them each way to guarantee that you’d make no loss in the very likely event that all were placed, even though some would sneer at such tactics. What’s slightly embarrassing (and only slightly) is that you weren’t aware that this type of betting is regularly restricted by all bookmakers, despite you being a self professed successful punter. It had nothing to do with any of your selections btw, merely the races you chose.
Especially Banjaxed Girl – I was on Call At Midnight 11/4 – thought the 7lb in hand would do it this time

Well done for picking it.

February 23, 2010 at 22:22 #278716Congratulations, i say. Getting three winners is always an achievement and the fact two of them were 2/1 is certainly not to be sneered at in any way.

I’m more pleased with spotting Serecina before I’d any betting forecast to point me in her direction, after today she looks a lively Foxhunters possibility,
It’s hard to second guess the betting on pointers making their NH debuts, but it’s a good source for value usually, I had another on Saturday that had similar form figures (never out of the first two in half a dozen or so runs in points) yet went off at 25-1, only sneaked third on the run-in but at incredible value and a nice EW but to very small stakes unfortunately
As for Bothy I can’t really see him winning at Chelteham (Not the Triumph anyway
) but I’ve no idea what handicap they have in mind and he might get in with a featherweight.February 24, 2010 at 00:58 #278751Well done CS.
I’ve been in more or less identical situations three times in the last six months, betting on football mostly, but had got off the mark after a nice run of luck betting horses, and vowed to show more discipline after I blew the whole lot after the first run to just under 1400pts. I got to the same mark twice after, and to my utter despair, done it again each time!
Your discipline has to be admired, and I only wish I had thought of similar bets before the last debacle, and ways to tread water whenever things were threatening to go pair shaped.
I’ll remember this the next time I get there, if or when!
Stick with it

Sorry, I thought the thread was started because you were trying to work out why you had been referred. Clearly you just wanted to teach us all how to bet. Thanks for the advice.
February 24, 2010 at 08:30 #278755Clearly we’re in the midst of a punting genius right here, perhaps you could right a feature column to spread your wisdom CS as quite clearly you have the bookies running for cover every day of the week. Forget
‘enemy number one’
this guys the betting ring antichrist.

I knew why I was being referred, they were relucatant to accept the bet. My motive was to point out that these selections must have something going for them as I know only too well that when bookies get nervous about taking a bet, it’s a bet woth having
Clearly you just wanted to teach us all how to bet.
No need for sarcasim …I was trying to share the selections. No more, no less, I thought the purpose of this forum was to help us all get the better of the bookies, not snipe at someone who tries to pass on bits of info.
Thanks for the advice.
I have a feeling you didn’t act on it

Your sarcasim is very evident, but I do OK thanks, I’ve turned this years starter bank of £1000 into a profit of just fiver under £16000 on NH racing in around six months, I’ve been posting all my bets since I joined the forum when I was still only a four figure sum in front….if that’s "punting genius" I’ll gladly accept your applause

I joined the forum for three reasons
1. Despite having a really good run over the last few NH seasons I still lacked the discipline needed to be really effective. By posting all my bets for all to see I felt I’d be less likely to waste monery on a wet Monday at Devon &n Exeter, that’s working out to an extent at least
2. I though there would be good advice floating about. For Instance : My fancy for Tidal Bay in The Cleeve was strongly endorsed by three other posters which swung me to have a bet. So that’s worked out too, thanks guys!
3. As I seemed to have developed the nack of making money on NH racing over the years and I’d be only too glad to share my good fortune with anyone else who wanted it.
That’s not worked out so well,
I get more abuse when I have a winner or two than when I do my cash.
Is this forum populated by loads of bookies?February 24, 2010 at 11:41 #278787Memories of Fist, before he went up in a smoking pile of Thai Baht….

Pretty new on here so i dont know if i am missing somthing or not??!
1. Well done CS you had a winning day! 3 out of 3 you cant get much better then that!
2. I can see where people are coming from on the each way front but at the end of the day ITS YOUR CHOICE NOT THERES!
3. i’ll keep an eye on your picks from now on looking back you seem to be spot on.
No insult or jibes intended to anyone.
Keep up the good work fella.
