The track today resembles a ploughed field. Perhaps as a consequence of running every race over the same narrow strip of ground. A grade 1 course where the jockeys are steering their mounts off the track between obstacles in order to find some ground that is raceable!
We’ve had our first faller by the way – Labelthou turns an exhausted somersault greeted by cheers from the crowd who were on the fav that crawled up the run-in to finish alone. The other horse lurched into the last fence leaving a v mark in the brush with its neck! A wonderful spectacle not, but lager sales exceeded expectations so happy days!

Very little annoys me more at a racecourse than the mindless cretins who cheer when a horse falls.

That’s the way Racecourses are going these days sadly. They aren’t catering for enthusiasts and instead are concentrating on getting as many pissheads through the turnstiles as possible.

It’s a bit like bookmakers catering for Gambling addicts with roulette machines, cartoon racing etc,etc

Very little annoys me more at a racecourse than the mindless cretins who cheer when a horse falls.
I think I may have mentioned this before, but one of my post-race analysis comments for the Sportsman at Worcester one afternoon didn’t nominate a horse as a negative, as was custom, but rather the sub-humans that cheered down the rafters upon September Moon’s crashing (but thankfully non-fatal) last-fence fall.
On today’s evidence it sadly appears that the Haydock lager boys are prepared to brave even December cold and damp, if it means still going about their objectionable ways.

to be honest i have never been to haydock so couldnt comment but my experiences of newcastle and doncaster put me off for life. you only have to watch channel 4 racing to see these cretins. mac and tanya right in the thick of it and these halfwits on thier mobiles phoning home to say ooooohhh look ma im on the telly. granted they have to be in the jungle to correctly keep up to date with the market movers but would it be too difficult to have an area cordoned off (possibly with security) to do the market reports as imho any youngsters watching seeing these clowns week in and week out will think this behaviour is the norm, chipmunk
talking of wierdos that go racing,i was at kempton on boxing day and while the king george runners were going to post there was loads of people all in a line waiting to be served at the burger vans. why do these people bother to go in the first place?
