When it comes to ‘talking dribble’ we’re certainly in the presence of an expert.

November 23, 2009 at 19:16 #260194I am reminded about Robert Thornton’s comment on going after riding Captain Cee Bee to win at Cheltenham.
He said that jockeys who think their horses run well on fast ground will say the ground is tacky or dead if their horse runs badly in a race.
Jockeys who think their mounts need soft ground and then run badly will say ‘ground was too lively.’
Just to confuse matters further Raceform has their time-based going as ‘Good’ for Haydock.
November 24, 2009 at 08:18 #260246I had to laugh on Saturday..everyone on the course seemed to know there was a difference between the going on the hurdle and chase course except for Paul Nichols and that silly girl braodcaster, who talks dribble at the best of times.
The only way you can be sure about any ground is to listen to what the Jockeys say…..it was soft ground today but they were going through it and more than a few horses who prefer good ground ran well in it or even won.
As indicated earlier the sages of sleepy hollow had the going as soft all round; a reading no doubt arrived at with the help of an atomic clock, anemometer, penetrometer, vector analysis, partial differentiation, contour integration, a glance skywards, a moist finger in the air and muddied heel
Though whether it is any more robust a reading than that gleaned by a guy sat at home with a stopwatch, a silly girl’s stilleto, a trainer’s 20st footprint or the vibes a jockey receives via a horse’s hooves I really wouldn’t know
However, I do have my own ideas as to which of the above are likely to be less wrong than the others
how bad it isn’t

i just felt that after reading this seasons chasers&hurdlers, that the mild comments about the haydock chase track contrasted with the continued negative comments about the 4-day cheltenham festival and the possible short lived life of the victor chandler chase as a grade one race.
racing is all about opinions and i stand corrected on my previous comments.
regards
