Saw Laura Kuennsberg on her show this morning trying hell bent to get someone to blame Brexit on our ‘predicament’ at the moment, but no one on there would give her the headline she wanted.
I see the BBC as negative, want the country to fail and just haven’t recovered from losing the 2016 referendum, and never will. They will never forgive the ones who voted democratically this way.
I see it that Brexit hasn’t really been given a chance.
Despite the vote in 2016, after a number of deceptions by May and unaccepting MPs, Brexit did not happen until January 2020, and even then apart from the really naive knew it was’nt a case of flicking a switch and unravelling 45 years of EU entwinement.
Then just several weeks later the spectre of covid was upon us and we locked down less than two months after leaving the EU, and this affected life everywhere for the next year and a half at least.
Even last Christmas 2021 decisions were still being made by family’s around covid, but turning into this year was a sign we had more or less defeated the worst of this virus.
Then, just a few weeks later into this year Putin invades Ukraine which has impacted the whole world yet again, and ever since.
I think it really shows the BBC’s hate and venom for trying to find fault and blaming Brexit for everything because since March 2020 it’s been far from a perfect world, let alone Europe.
November 13, 2022 at 12:28 #1622938How many threads about the BBC do we need?
The common denominator with all of them is questioning the BBC’s impartiality hence the legitimacy of it continuing to be funded by the licence fee which exempts it from many of the rigours of normal supply and demand private sector economics.
This is a legitimate question and debate, but wouldn’t it be better to have every aspect of this ongoing debate in one place, rather than fragmented?
We’ve almost got as many BBC threads as active Lounge contributors now!
Brexit is not a subject I have strong views on – I voted Remain, but accepted the result and various soundings since the referendum (from the European Elections to the 2019 Election) confirm a significant ongoing national appetite for Brexit.
My own view is Brexit – freeing us of EU red tape and demands – may have helped expedite a faster UK Covid vaccine rollout, but by virtually every other measure Brexit has been detrimental to our economy and way of life.
But it is what it is.
Are the BBC anti-Brexit?
As I’ve stated before, the BBC is a broad church, I don’t see a discernible collections policy bias, and different BBC employees will hold different views and keep a lid on those views with varying levels of professionalism.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"November 13, 2022 at 12:45 #1622951They distanced themselves from the Brexit Party celebrations in January 2020 Ian, they positioned themselves on the outskirts as they knew they weren’t welcome as they knew they had done wrong with day after day of anti Brexit stories telling us, from various sources we had never heard of this could, might, perhaps might happen.
Never true facts, just scaremongering.November 13, 2022 at 12:48 #1622953Simon Schama was the one who raised the subject of Brexit on the Kuenssberg programme this morning. And he’s right: the B word has become unmentionable in political circles.
My interpretation is that nobody can tell the public that they were conned, for fear of being accused of calling the voting public idiots, so they all grin and bear it. Deep down, all but the hard right UKIP/extreme Tories know it was the wrong decision.
November 13, 2022 at 12:54 #1622956How do we know, it’s never been given a chance.
November 13, 2022 at 12:58 #1622958Of course we haven’t given it a chance. Rees Mogg ( he who was one of the people persuading people to vote for it)has said it will take 50 years to reap the benefits. It’s early days yet. How wonderful that our great grandchildren will benefit by our sacrifice. And there are so many countries queuing up to do trade deals with us already. Pity that America seems to be sticking with the Democrats though because Trump was a great supporter of brexit. Biggly.
November 13, 2022 at 13:05 #1622962I noticed the BBC is anti Brexit, too. They also politically correct and pushing about climate change. In other words they preachy. Even in their light entertainment programs.
You've got to accentuate the positive.
Eliminate the negative.
Latch on to the affirmative.
Don't mess with mister in between.November 13, 2022 at 13:10 #1622963Didn’t Bozo keep on reminding us how he had got Brexit done?
If it’s all over, as he and other Tories keep claiming, where’s that £350m a week for the NHS?
November 13, 2022 at 13:13 #1622964It’s time to stop blaming and start resolving , Hunt is going to kick the sh*t out of us financially in this budget , it’s not going to be short sharp pain either …

November 13, 2022 at 13:22 #1622968“It’s time to stop blaming…”
And this is exactly what the Tories want.
“Please conveniently forget that we’re the ones that lied to you and then ****** things up. We’re compassionate, really. Honest!”
November 13, 2022 at 13:32 #1622971Glad the Tories can try any tactic they like , everyone can what’s happening , the way to hurt the Tories is with your vote , it doesn’t mean we shouldn’t look to minimize the pain , this isn’t a dead leg it’s a broken leg ….as for Mogg saying we,’ll see the benefits in 50 years ….bollocks

Auntie Been – now I posit this – could an auntie have a biased bone in her body? It may be true or it may not, but it could also be said that as you get older you get a bit more one sided with a sprinkling of taciturn. Tomorrow marks the 100 year since first broadcast by Marconi in the Strand. Coffee shops started and age before that around Chancery Lane.November 13, 2022 at 17:27 #1623047How does Brexit affect Chezza’s prospects if travelling to Porte D’Auteuil on the Paris Metro and replicating the stupendous Tournedos Rossini with French fries at the Bistro immediately outside the steps descending into the station that he enjoyed in 1990?
This, one feels, is the litmus test, or “le test du litmus.”

November 14, 2022 at 15:53 #1623114I understand that N Ireland’s instability is of no importance to the average English Tory voter, but Brexit and the protocol remain of great significance here. What is astonishing is how it is mentioned so little; not the only cause of the UK’s troubles, for sure, but a substantial element
