Max Dynamite for the County is of interest if he goes there
Townshend another one who interest me in a handicap chase wherever they send him, feel like they’ve been keeping his mark to a reasonable level recently and could bolt up
February 9, 2018 at 10:32 #1341362If they put Total Recall up by 20 lbs that still puts him on 145 over Hurdles. He won The Hennessy off a chase mark of 147, I think. You’d imagine he’d settle better in The Coral Cup as it would be ran at a faster pace than the Leopardstown race..
February 9, 2018 at 10:41 #1341364The problem with Max Dynamite Ben is the price. Was 20/25’s AOTS until Ricci said on telly that he was a fancy of his for the County. Cut instantly to around 10’s which doesn’t interest me as much as others at bigger prices.
February 9, 2018 at 11:32 #1341373De Plotting shed has a rather apt name i think.
His Irish mark over hurdles reached a peak of 152 but is 150 now, looks built to be a chaser and has jumped very well this season but hasn’t got his head in front.
His first run over fences was over 2mile 6f which is probably about his right trip with 2mile 4f to 2mile 6f seeming to be his best hurdles runs(though he could prob be effective anywhere from 2mile 4 to 3mile+ looking at his runs).
He finished 2nd to Presenting Percy that day by 3 lengths and i’d say it was used as a run to see if he’d go graded route or handicapping and after getting beat by PP they decided on the latter, he really caught my eye that day with his professionalism in his jumping and i said i’d keep an eye on him, when i seen he was dropped to 2mile 3f on his next run, then 2mile 1f and most recently 2mile it confirmed my suspicionsEach of these runs was far from devoid of promise and he’s obtained a mark of 143 which could be very lenient. If he doesn’t get hammered too badly he could be a big player in something like the Brown Advisory Plate.
Big worry is Mr. Smith and co read the Presenting Percy form literally and give him a mark at 150 or so and with Mr Elliott’s name beside the horse it’s not an impossibility.February 9, 2018 at 12:06 #1341377lol Fran, I called him “appropriately named” a fortnight ago, and he’s high on my list, I’ll be betting him in which ever race he takes in.
February 9, 2018 at 12:22 #1341379Firstly, apologies for stealing your horse VTC hadn’t copped it .
Secondly, good to hear it, i like to see you thinking along the same linesNow just to hope Smith doesn’t go too mad because i think there’s an outside chance the Irish national could be on the agenda too despite the massive step up in trip
February 9, 2018 at 14:03 #1341391lol Fran, don’t be daft, he ain’t mine, not got a bean on him yet. I was just pleased that you had spotted him too. I think he’s crying out for a step up in trip, certainly further than he’s been running recently.
Fingers crossed mate.
February 9, 2018 at 15:21 #1341406Charlie – fair enough you’re not wrong there at all, hadn’t checked the price of Max Dynamite and 10s is indeed too short a price to take one that’s only of interest to me
February 9, 2018 at 15:25 #1341408De Plotting Shed is the one in the orange colours who bolted up in a NHF race in Ireland a few years ago isn’t he? Female trainer if I remember correctly? I was in the bookies that day and had backed some other horse in the race (probably a Mullins or Gigginstown favourite but can’t remember) and mine got absolutely laughed at by De Plotting Shed, remember thinking “well that’s either a very decent horse or the rest are useless”.
For the sake of the story I hope it romps home for you chaps if you back it at Cheltenham.
For the sake of the story I also hope it is indeed De Plotting Shed that I’m thinking of, if I’ve got the wrong horse I’m going to look a right donkeys ass :D
February 9, 2018 at 21:18 #1341457I remain to be convinced by De Plotting Shed. He’s had a couple of excellent opportunities to win this season, and has been well supported to so, but has been headed twice now when looking to have the race at his mercy.
Looking at his five wins, the shortest winning margin has been five lengths, will all successes being comfortable. That suggests to me could be he may need to have plenty in hand to gain victory. I have my doubts about him when something gets him off the bridle.
That being said, he is the type who could travel well into a big handicap and hit the frame. My advice to anyone backing him would be to do so each way!
February 10, 2018 at 10:19 #1341551@Ben_Bernanke- He’s been trained by elliot all his career so it mustn’t be the same one.
I agree with Fran and VTC….i tweeted about his placing in novice chases before his last run, and that there must be plans afoot. Whether its at Chelt, or a big handicap in Ire, i will be on.
@thehorsesmouth He has ran in decent graded races over hurdles over intermediate and has ran well, finishing just over 3 lengths behind Sutton Place and Snow Falcon…They started him off over 2m6 over fences, pointed out by Fran and finished not far behind PP. Then has been dropped to 2mile 3, 2m 1 and 2miles on next starts….strange for a horse clearly as his best over a trip.
The first time i noticed this horse, was back in his initial bumper entries, i noticed him being entered up and not being declared a lot at tracks like Downpatrick…i know Elliot likes winners there…so i kept him on my radar… If you watch back a race he finished 3 1/2 lengths behind a deceent horse in Jimmy two times at Downpatrick, you will notice how he is stayed on.
Downpatrick has a very steep hill and JK was at work on him quite a lot, before he stayed on up the hill. The horse much closer to the dour staying type than the 2miler type…so he is definitely worth watching wherever the heck he goes!

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!February 11, 2018 at 11:36 #1341734Ben i think you’ve De name escapes me in mind. Was with Liz lalor, scooted in in a bumper before Mc Manus purchased him for big bucks and sent him to Noel Meade, won a couple of hurdle races as a Novice and Meade fancied him for one of the big handicaps last year(could’ve actually been yesterdays Betfair hurdle) but he’s been a bit of a flop, he’s ridiculously well treated at this stage if they can get him right because seems to have badly lost his way .
February 11, 2018 at 17:50 #1341788Cheers for that Fran your memory is much better than mine!! He does indeed look well treated but like you said has lost his way – then again a lot of that owners lose their way before winning a big field handicap! So probably one to keep on side!
February 11, 2018 at 21:29 #1341801I wonder if movewiththetimes is still alright. Anyone heard any news on him recently ?
February 12, 2018 at 07:58 #1341816Diego Du Charmil looks like it’s being plotted for a chase handicap at the festival, already won a handicap hurdle at the festival in 2016.
February 12, 2018 at 08:16 #1341818@muggins_here I think it’s a case of not risking him running well in a race before Cheltenham, more than anything else for MWTT
February 12, 2018 at 09:11 #1341820Not sure what to make of MWTT but i do know i would want to see him over 2miles to be tempted to back him.
if he runs over 2m5 i wont be interested. Just watch back his 2nd to Finians Oscar to see why.
