I was wondering if any of the forum members use Gruss software for betting on Betfair and if it is a significant aid and what are the key advantages it provides punters that use it compared with those who do not?
I am thinking about trialling it but have an iPad rather than a laptop and wondered can it be used on this device as effectively as a PC/Laptop.
Finally does anyone know of a definitive video beginners guide online?
Many thanks in advance.
October 1, 2013 at 14:46 #453173I am using the software and have for over five years now and find it essential for "trading".
Unfortunately, it will not run on an "iPad" as it is designed for "Microsoft.Net".
October 1, 2013 at 15:02 #453176For £6 a month it is worth a try to see if it suits you.
There is a definitive user manual included within the software.
I use it on a basic enough platform to place bets back and lay and prefer it as a facility to manage my bets generally. Have it running always monitoring markets I am interested in and then cycling through the rest of the day markets.
What drove me to it was when I accidentally placed a bet for £1000 rather than £100 before a race a few years back with not much more than a minute before to off I had to do some quick finger work to get my stake back.
I have not experimented much with it in depth using own spreadsheets etc as I don’t have a great need to at present but there is the ability to tailor it further to you needs in such a way.
Conditional bets feature is useful, you can set the software to enter the market at a certain time in conjunction with other qualifying criteria etc.
Overall I think it is worth the money and provides me with a better real time facility for the exchange and can easily be written off at the cost. I used bet angel for a while, good program but was not worth the money for how I used it, though it is a fantastic tool for trading which I had some fun with for a week or so, turning over 26k in 5 days for little more than good night out so I concluded I was rubbish and stopped! I have only fiddled around trading on gruss to test it out to see the comparison and its basic form bet angel which I found the better of the two but someone with more experience of trading may be able to help better in that department!
October 25, 2013 at 17:51 #456124thanks for the helpful replies. I only have an ipad (no laptop just PC).
I do however have an android phone and a mate sugegsted using an app called "Zoom Bet Betfair Lite".
Any idea if this as fast as Gruss say for in running betting on the track where if you have a fast connection there is a clear advantage to be had?
October 25, 2013 at 18:35 #456130No reason why the "app" shouldn’t work.
If you are at the course then, I would imagine 4G would be best – or even better having access to an WiFi "hot-spot" if available.
There will be a delay of between 3-5 seconds for "in-play" bets as you probably already know.
October 25, 2013 at 19:41 #456132Have you tried "iBetMate"
Superb, absolutely superb. Its an iPhone app but it will work on your iPad.
October 29, 2013 at 14:27 #456645Thanks again for the replies. I will try that app out Cavelino.
Matron, as regards the 5 second delay this will effect all users so anyone sitting at home watching ATR or RUK will still be at a disadvantage to someone on course?
October 29, 2013 at 15:43 #456650Absolutely,
If you are at the course when you place your "back or lay" you will have an distinct advantage over the majority as they will get a delay of a few seconds with the TV/radio signal they receive. (Unless, they can afford an expensive direct feed!)
Just watch some racing on your TV at home and have the "app" open on your iPad – this, will give an indication to you of the delay. (market suspension.)
