Anyone know whether there is going to be a betting ring to speak of ? I haven’t seen any pitch auction. What’s the plan for Sunday ?
April 16, 2008 at 10:51 #158073BSB,
There’s a piece in the Post today on the betting issues. Great Leighs say they’ll have three or four bookies present, but there’s no indication of how they were selected. Also a quote from a member of the SP authority expressing concern about ‘the integrity of the SP’ – and saying that there won’t be an SP unless there are at least three bookmakers. I can’t see this article on the Post website unfortunately.
My understanding is that the inspection tomorrow is mostly concerned with the security and safety of the stable area and the provision for loading and unloading horses.

April 16, 2008 at 12:57 #158089I just had a look at Sunday’s entry on the RP site. Looks like a goodish card. It bodes well for the quality of the racing that James Fanshawe is sending nine there.
Anyone here with an invite for Sunday?April 16, 2008 at 21:08 #158185Pottsy,
bit surprised you are quoting racing post hyperbole,
" a professional member of the betting industry" means its lies unless named.
jim donnely concerned about number of bookies present needing at least 3 to return sp’s,
hasn’t seemed to bother them last 2 years at kempton, I was the only one present 1 day.
all a bit of journos license creating a headline,
