Sadly was fatally injured in a stalls incident in the 1000 Guineas this afternoon. RIP Little Lady
Would have been so unexpected for everyone concerned and what a rotten end to such a short life. RIP.
I was there today and it was extremely sad to see poor Gray Pearl suffering being stuck under the starting stall, how it happened we didn’t see but presume she tried to get under the stall and hurt her back and couldn’t get up.
There was a gasp from the crowd when the screens went round the stall and we feared the worst but after around 20 minutes the horse ambulance arrived and she was taken back to the veterinary hospital, we thought she was going to be ok.
An hour after the incident an announcement came over the tanoy that Gray Pearl had been put down, she had suffered a spinal chord injury that was untreatable.
It put a cloud over the whole day as we had seen her in the parade ring with her handler looking wonderful.
RIP Gray Pearl, condolences to Charlie Hills and all connected with her, a beautiful filly
