Once again – Joe knows
February 28, 2021 at 23:29 #1526001Surrounding the reason the person leaked it now?
February 28, 2021 at 23:30 #1526002I would. It’s bad. Really bad.

Ruby..
It’s also a 1-100 shot that no one on RUK, ITV or Racing TV will start criticising him. That’s why he won’t face any kind of punishment
February 28, 2021 at 23:33 #1526004Joe is rare here, but always right.
I’m really interested about your views on horses suffering heart attacks on the gallops.
Tank, I seriously think that all Racing Network will be reluctant to discuss the matter or even to crucify him. Not in the next days….
February 28, 2021 at 23:40 #1526006I swear down, it is probably the most stupidest thing i have ever seen in my life. Unbelievable !
March 1, 2021 at 00:20 #1526009Mike, please explain to me why its really bad?
Its distasteful and its not a great image for someone in his position, but at the end of the day, unless theres cruelty prior to death and or involved in the cause of death, your just left with a distasteful image
Joe, care to elaborate?
Ruby, this definitely is not the sport for you. This thread has said that much, you have no concept of it whatsoever, horses take heart attacks from time to time, the more horses you have in your yard the more frequently it will occur, stop making a problem where there isnt one. Joes opinion isnt going to change that fact.
Calling for his head is a bit grim, hopefully none of you decide to take a job in a racing yard,
March 1, 2021 at 00:30 #1526011Why did he not come straight out and admit it and save the media frenzy around did he didn’t he?
Having initially believed that Elliott had been a victim of a stupid photoshop prank I now find him as believable as Prince Andrew in his interview with Emily Matlis.
To think that he felt it was acceptable to jump onto the body of a dead horse in order to take a phone call, is sick in itself, and to then allow a photo of himself giving a V sign to be taken makes me wonder what was going on in this man’s mind.
For an experienced trainer like himself did he not stop to think what a bad image for racing that could send out if it got into the wrong hands, which it did.Sorry but that excuse doesn’t add up .
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...March 1, 2021 at 00:32 #1526012Anyone have any theory as to why this has just came out 4 years later?
March 1, 2021 at 00:33 #1526013One of racing’s defensive lines whenever it is under attack on welfare is to stress how well the horses are looked after and how much the people who look after them care.
Tell that story now and they’ll push that photo under your nose.
That’s the wider issue. For Gordon Elliott, I hope he has someone who can offer him wise counsel through this, particularly if other revelations are to emerge. Whether it is career ending will depend on how owners view it/him.
A real mess of a situation. A real mess.
March 1, 2021 at 00:42 #1526015Thats a fair point corm, a silly mistake indeed.
I dont think the punishment will fit the crime however and thats sad.
I personally just see an image issue but The way people have reacted in this thread probably means hes going to lose business if the wider audience react like so. Which they will
Shame.
March 1, 2021 at 00:42 #1526016I don’t think Elliott is saying he thinks sitting on the horse to take a phone call “acceptable”, Jac. He’s saying when the phone rang he was stood trying to move the dead horse and sat down as an instinctive thing to do. Not thinking about what he was sitting on. Then one of his lads tried to get his attention and he gestured – hence the v sign.
Nobody’s going to believe that.
To not know you’re sitting on a dead horse seems crazy to me.
He’s just made the story worse.
Value Is EverythingMarch 1, 2021 at 00:44 #1526017One of the best explanations ever. Go and make that public and NH is gone in a hurry.
March 1, 2021 at 00:48 #1526018Its a terrible excuse on his part
There are loads of pictures on the Internet of him making that exact hand gesture in celebration
It looks as though he’s recreated that whilst sitting on a dead horse
I’m pretty dissalusioned by this tbh
March 1, 2021 at 00:50 #1526019Can see this being headline news.
Value Is EverythingMarch 1, 2021 at 01:04 #1526021Can someone answer this…what business is this of the BHA?
They’d be far better off concerning themselves with one of the leading UK owners keeping his daughter hostage, while they continue to accept his money in race sponsorship.
In relation to Elliott… always struck me as a bit of a Del Boy type.
Either way, I wouldn’t be surprised if this photograph somehow came to prominence as an act of revenge. As the saying goes, hell has no fury…
March 1, 2021 at 01:09 #1526023Perhaps acceptable not the best choice of words Ginger but you get my drift and why would one of his lads want to catch his attention when he was on the phone, straddling a dead horse, apart from to ask him to pose for the stupid sick photo with his much used victory sign.
Probably the same lad who 4 years on has a grudge against him for some reason or another and decided to post it on Social Media, because who knows what hardships stable staff are going through at this moment in time.Davy Russell’s career was on the line after the horse punching incident. Nothing Elliott says will erase that disrespectful image from peoples minds,
As David says a real mess for racing.
