As i said earlier, race revolves around trueshan for me, i never taken any of the 5s as i did feel he must be unlikely to run, but 9/4 about today is just unreal IMO

easily the best of these and even on the ground will still win,

Ill have a few £ e/w on nate the great @125/1, this is his optimum and i wouldnt be surprised if a few falter

“easily the best of these and even on the ground will still win,”

We will see, i would think at the top level he would want soft ground.

The magic 8 ball keeps giving me a different answer. Favourite deserves to be short enough though.

Purists can point to a top OR of 124 among the first three home, but that was the best stayers’ Flat race I’ve seen in a while.

I miss the race being 2m5f, but times change and that was a cracker.

Trueshan would surely have been better with more give, while Stradivarius has run superbly for his age.

Take nothing away from the winner, who is obviously very tough as well as very good, but you could see that Trueshan was hanging and not letting himself down on that ground.

Let’s hope that they clash later in the season at Longchamp or Ascot- if the rains ever arrive!

I’d say that was the race of the season so far of this flat season? Anyone disagree? A word on the dam for Kyprios – Polished Gem – Mum to 6x 110+ RPR performers. Some record. Will be interesting to see if Kyprios handles a bit of juice later on in the season, his full sibs SFAS & Falcon Eight are better on better ground on the balance of their form.

Aint gonna matter much back end of the season Gladiateur. I give Kyprios and Strad little chance of being much good on testing ground.

Great race. Kyprios is an admirably tough and genuine horse and I was pleased to see him confirm the Ascot form. Although the racing media is more interested in the runner up.

Trushan is better on softer ground.
Stradivarius isn’t quite what he was but with a clear run may well have won.
Winner is a bloody good horse – the best horse on the day – and probably only finds enough so is difficult to know how good he is.
That said, it is possible to judge how good horses are when they run on good-firm and how good horses are when they run on other surfaces or indeed how good horses are in previous years. Kyprios’s form is simply not as good as the decade’s Champion Stayer Stradivarius was in his prime, or as good as this season’s champion stayer Trueshan is this year on different ground.

    I’m gonna say it

Strad wins that without getting shut in by trueshan then getting bumped by thunderous

Is he ever gonna get a clear run

Good to hear he will race on there’s likely very little between the first 2 and mojo star

Trueshan is good and everything I just personally can’t rate a horse highly that only goes on bad ground, ground that blunts the speed of the other horses

Thought my Coltrane bet was looking good at one point as he travelled like a dream but simply doesn’t have the class it seems

The eclipse would probably be my race of the season so far

Both the gold Cup and today’s race were excellent
